One of the websites that I manage is focused on complex analysis of business, strategy, and portfolio management (things of interests to professors, consultants, etc.). But in the Cpanel, in the category (links from an external page), I see many unrelated (often poker, porno, or other spammy websites) websites supposedly sending traffic to this website. And if I visit any of these websites, I can not find a link to my website. Even looking in the HTML code I could not find anything. What is going on? Should I be concerned? I am a little surprised that a porno website would send traffic to a business strategy website. Any help would be appreciated.
I wouldnt I get this also, I think sometimes when some one has been on that site then goes straght to yours from say a link in there fav then it gets picked up as it come from that site, I could be wrong here but that is all I can think it is
I've had the same problem, and I can't help wondering if these people do this specifically to get us to look at their website, almost as if this is another tactic used to get traffic. Its very annoying and I wish they'd go away.
seems like a referal spam. Check that your webstats are not accessible to the public. If they are, you are giving them a link for free. Or they just want you to vistit them ;-) and play poker or ...
are u guy using blogger? They have the random "next" blog function. If the user press the next on a sex or gamble blog, it will show them as refarral.
