Why only google traffic?

Discussion in 'Google' started by martialarm, Dec 5, 2007.

95% of my traffic is from google, then direct and affiliate links in. After comes yahoo and msn.

How have I 'only' optimized for Google?

What does MSN and Yahoo need that Google doesn't?

    Thanks

You should try to get more direct traffic, this way are you being authority in your domain. Since most of your traffic comes from Google, you are dependent of Google. You can try to get more trust from the other sites, this way you will get more traffic from others and not just from Google.

As about yahoo and msn, those SE are not that used. Google is becoming more and more the door of the internet for the normal internet user. Still, there are many sites running without that much traffic from Google ( the best example is blogs...)

I would advise you to ignore all the Google fanboys above. I will be blunt and say they are idiots for mentioning some of the things they said and are not worthy to be called webmasters.

Think about it - you are missing on traffic from 2 of the top 3 SEs. How much more sales would you get if your site now began to get traffic form those Search Engines as well.

If Google for some reason or another drops you from its SERPs for whatever reason, that's a disaster for you.

You have mentioned that you have optimised your site for Google. I ask that you now look at the link in How to Optimize for Yahoo! and try to implement anything there you have not done so already.

I and others in this forum (a search can verify this) have found that Yahoo visitors tend to buy more and/or click on ad links more than Google visitors do. You certainly would want this sort of traffic.

In regards to the MSN/Live SERPs, I am still working on that myself. I have found one of my experiment sites has gained 1st place and excellent SERPs in MSN/Live. The only thing I can give you is that this site was using the sNews CMS. Its inbuilt SEO method may have had something to do with the excellent SERP results - I have not been able to spend enough time to verify this however.

    Good luck in your endevours.

Google is a beast! I think they pick up quite a bit of our content, even things we never intended. You know, like hominy flakes :D

And yes, as posted above, "users" :)

Be thankful that most of your traffic came from google because google sends quality traffic than the other search engine. But if you really want to get good rankings in MSN and yahoo try to create more contents because yahoo and MSN give more weights to content.

The fact that you are not getting any significant traffic from the other search engines means that the other search engines have a long way to go to catch up to Google.

Google got it going on. Try submitting to the other search engines. Find related sites by searching with yahoo and msn. Try to get links from them. If you haven't already.

In Chinese language websites, baidu.com, also a search engine, have 70 percent, google only have 25 percent or less.

I think in English language, in few countries, yahoo.com is welcome.

But another opinion is that if you rank well in Google, you also rank well in other SE.

But if you rank well in other SE, this does not mean you rank well in Google.
