Why only 10 hits/day for a popular blog with PR5?

My Cook blog with a PR 5 has only about 10-15 hits from search engines?
Since the Blog is on Food and Recipes, it is a niche as well, and the keywords well targetted. Yet my serp ranks are pretty dismal for many keywords. Even a blog with PR 4 sometimes beat me. Is it because I have so many outgoing links owing to a event I host every weekend?
is it because all the incoming links are to my Home page?
All the incoming links are relevant since most of the links are from food blogs, yet, I get very low Search engine referrals.

dunno why you would waste your efforts on seoing a blogspot subdomain, you can never move your stuck with them for life.

I have seen blog spot domains getting 30k referrals from Big G, and maybe my fear of CSS for WP blogs. I am working on a couple of own domains as well..

    I don't know if I would call a blog "popular" with only 10 hits a day ;).

There could be a thousand reasons why you may not be getting better results from the search engines. Perhaps your niche is too small to drive traffic. For example, the term "bachelor cooking" is only searched for about 10 times a day.

Popular because another 400-450 hits from bookmarks and blogrolls :)

Bachelor cooking is searched for only about 10 times a day but there are many other terms like Curry, Pork Chops etc etc. Even for the term Bachelor Cooking I am only Number 3 in the Google SERP. It is number 1 in yahoo and other sites though. i think for that i need to write a post with parmalink anthonyskitchen.blogspot.com/date/bachelor-cooking.htm and maybe link it with the 'About' :).

Well, apparently links do better for you then SE results. Go with it and get more links, it will eventually help your SE ranking as well. Ranking well in search engines is just a waiting game. But, good luck with terms like "curry" and "pork chops", that could take a while and a bit of work ;).

I am always working on link building, and will work on some deep link baiting, but thing is, even with so many links already (600 plus-technorati figures), I am not getting too many referrals..... and rank very low on certain keywords. is blogspot the problem? Are my outgoing Links the problem.

The 1st thing I would do is move it off of the blogspot domain onto your own. You're building links to blogspot, which really is a waste if you ask me :).

I can understand that, but I am not sure if i can ask everyone to transfer all the links to a new Domain :( . Will start a new blog on my own domain, but I thought I should keep the current one as is.

Do as you wish, but if you ever wanted to sell the site, the fact that it's on a blogspot domain renders it practically worthless vs your own domain/site where you could get thousands. I wouldn't waste my time putting work into it.

Just keep it on blogspot for now, if you get trouble, move it then. You can always use a redirect to your new domain later.

There is one very important thing you are doing wrong. Dont use drop down menus, the search engines can not read whats in them and therefor your inner pages will have no anchor text other than the dates in the archive in the links to them.

You say you have 600 links from other blogs, did you check if those 600 links has nofollow tag on them ?

You have also to many links outside your site, you can make an own page with all the outgoing links.

The dropdowns are for convinience, and I have expanded them as anchor link below them.
Also I have seen that when google throws up a result, it highlights even keywords from the dropdown, so I assume google can recognize anchortext from dropdowns nowadays.

All 600 links are good links. All Natural links with no relnofollow.

About the outgoing links, How can I have an own page for it. I guess I have to then have another blogspot doian for them, if i want to use blogspot only, right?

for example: *blog*.com or something lol, is it just some script that you would put on any purchased domain?
