    hey all
I have this hand coded php classifieds site. I had it up and running and it was connected to the db and it worked fine about 5 years ago. I made a backup of the whole. I tried to set the site up and get nothing but errors. I think the php version was php 3 or 4 it was wriiten,. But I heard that if I was running php5 on my server that it was compatable with previous versions of php

Hi its better to make sql query's uptodate and few php coding as per new php version. 5 years is too much time in coding / internet world. you have to update your site once a 6 month. as per me.

    Hi,

Yes you are write that old version php scripts are compatible with PHP 5 but there are few functions that have got changed as well as the technique of accessing the environmental variables has also changed. If you can share with me the URL of the website where you have uploaded the new website and I can see the errors then I might suggest you the changes you can do to your website and make it functioning again.

    Cheers,

    ~Maneet

and maybe it's not the mysql version fault, maybe you configure it wrong? try to check the configuration file etc.
