why old is gold and new is few?

ny idea y pppl say old is gold and new is few

I've never heard that saying before.

 

Maybe because all the old fashion is making a comeback or antiques are expensive?

Old is time tested and trusted and hence it is called as gold.
New is fresh and yet to be tested; it may or may not give the desired result and hence trusted by "few"
