Yesterday while going out to throw garbage into our dumpster my wife realised it was missing. We looked a bit and finally found it, down about a 10 foot drop off at the end of our property wedged into the side of our neighbors newly built garage about another 20-30 feet from our property. We tried to figure out WTF had happened, worried we'd have to pay for all the damage done to the garage. Thankfully my wifes family lives in town so we heard a rumor that the neighbors garage was busted into and his truck stolen. After hearing this we decided to call the police ourselves and found a bit more about the story. It appears for some reason or another a drunk in a truck hit our dumpster, nocked it off the 10 foot or so drop retaining wall, wedged it into the garage. Next he tried to get out of the neighbors property, instead of taking the left way which leads out of the property he chose to go forward and then right breaking into the other side of the garage almost totally destroying that side of the newly built building. The police did catch the guy and he's currently in jail, I'm simply amazed someone could be this stupid. I drink myself and have gotten plenty f'd up but never to the point of doing something this fricken stupid! Anyone else have something similiar happen to them? We've had drunk problems before but nothing like this.
I was 21 and I got pulled over after leaving a bar. I was wasted but somehow I passed a field test. Since then I have never driven drunk and I never will. I also wont get in a car with someone trying to drive drunk. As a result, I usually end up not drinking and having to drive home. I used to think, "Hey, I'm not driving...F. it!" And then when I was about 23, my friend got into an accident w/ me in the car. I ended up w/ 48 stitches in my face and head. Even the doctor was grossed out by the fact that my chin was hanging off. It's amazing how many people actually do drive drunk...extremely drunk.
Yeah it is amazing. My uncle was basically totalled from a drunk driver hitting him and pinning him inbetween 2 cars. He lived, barely, still both his legs look like a jig saw puzzle and are nowhere near straight with huge depessions where holes used to be. Hard to set an example as well when we have such great role models in Wisconsin http://badgerherald.com/news/2004/03/08/dwi_incident_puts_la.php
I went through a road block drunk a few months ago, and figured out my registration had expired 3 days before when the copped told me. He made me pull over to the side and he looked at all my paperwork. He never even asked me if I had been drinking, even though it was 3 in the morning, and ithe road block was on the road coming from the bar. He let me off with a warning. I think most cops don't want to pick on you, unless you are just shit faced, and unbearable. A guy behind me was cussing the cop out....he went to jail.
My best friend's father was killed by some idiot that was drunk! He (the father) was on his bike, drunk a***hole in a care and hit the man. Dead on the spot. Both sides are sad: the drunk man never recovered emotionally from what he had done and a nice family lost a father and husband. Remember that the next time you want to drink and drive! Hit a tree and kill yourself: you deserve it, but don't kill or injure any bystanders!
Sorry to hear that. All we lost is the use of our dumpster as the cops said it's currently 'evidence'....I'm very thankful my son was not outside playing when this happened, fricken drunk drivers suck!
That explains your avatar. Do you actually have any scarring? From your pics your face looks ok. Yeah drunk drivers suck. My cousin died in a car wreck. He came down to visit his father and they went out drinking. My uncle drinks all the time, but he told his son to drive since he had a lot less to drink. My cousin ran off the dirt road. It was 6 hours before a car finally drove by and saw them. My cousin died in his father's arms 2 hours after the wreck, so basically my uncle held him while he was dying for 2 hours and then held his dead body for 4 more hours.
Yeah it really put a riff between my uncle and my cousin's wife. My cousin had a 3 year old daughter and a new born son. My best friend from high school was drinking and hit a woman head on in a car wreck. He killed her. He broke out of the hospital and went to Mexico so he wouldn't go to jail for manslaughter. My mom's bestfriend was hit by a drunk driver on the same highway as my friend's wreck. She lost a leg and suffered major brain damage. That highway is called blood alley because the county is dry and it's a straight 15 minute drive to the beer stores.
Yeah it's all reasons why I don't drink. My family on both sides are alcoholics. I figured if I picked up a drink I probably wouldn't stop until one day I killed someone. I mean I know that seems morbid as hell, but it's something that I honestly believe.
I know a guy who brings a mini breath-a-lizer around w/ him. If he's too drunk he just calls a limo and pays a few bar/restaurant employees to bring his car home.
Not a bad idea. My main problem is anywhere we go is about a half hour or more away. So any night I have to many I just crash there or get a ride from someone else. I do have a couple and drive, but in my defense a couple for me is like most having a sip of beer. If I feel anything at all I don't drive, hope to keep it that way.
It'd be cheaper just to rent a hooker for an hour and have her drive you home. I think they have to do that. I mean I think you can "hire" a hooker for nonsexual things. I think I'm going to call one and see.
It's amazing how common the saying is "Don't Drink and Drive" but for some reason it always is broken and many people are hurt by the decision. In the past 4 years in my area, 15 kids have died from Alcohol related accidents. 3 of them were killed instantly when their car slammed into a highway bridge support just last year on their prom night. Terrible.
I was t-boned by a drunk doing 110 KPH. The passenger door on my firebire stopped 2 inches from my body. My car flew sideways and hit the curb so hard that the wheels were almost horizontal. The car was bent in half and crumpled. Luckily I was alone because the only space not occupied by debris and metal was the few square feet where I sat. I came out of it with 6 stitches from breaking the side window with my head. When the ambulance arrived they thought the driver was dead and didn't believe me that I was driving.
