Why not just one domain?

    Aloha,

It seems like most of you have several domains with adsense, but why don't you put everything in just one domain?

I guess it would be possible to implement things like this:
    www.domain.com/topic-1/...
    www.domain.com/topic-2/...
    www.domain.com/topic-3/...
    etc.

Is there some specific reasons for not putting everything in one domain or is it just a matter of personal taste and potential domain sale later on?

    Thanks, Mads

Yep, I think over time this is likely to happen, all because of the google sandbox.
Slowly everything will turn into subdomains and directories, because its faster to get into google with a keyword.

In my opinion it looks more professional to have separate sites for different topics, also the more domains, I believe it is easier to conquer the search engines for your chosen kws.

I agree with dsm56, while having your own domain looks more professional and should help with seo if it contains keywords, sometimes waiting to get out the sandbox is just too costly and not worth it. in the end, with the majority of clickers being searchers, do they really care if it's on www.domain.com/topic-1/... or www.topic-1-blah-blah.com? I doubt it as long as the content is good.

I use extra domains for testing new ideas and software. I like not having all my eggs in one basket. I use some domains for temporary purposes such as selling a car.

My sites are all subdomains of one single domain. I can get a new site in Google pretty quickly by linking my sites together and submitting site maps for each one.

I have done pages for both a church and a club. Neither would want to be on same domain. There are places that subdomains seem to work betterr and places they do not in my estimation. If all of your material is related sub domain works fine.

    Just a quick question....

I have a few domain names, but only 1 server, Are you allowed to have differnt topics under differnt subdomains linked to differnt domain names? -- For example, my site www.itsall3.com is for games and stuff, but i really want to make a site about paragliding (nothing to do with itsall3), so can i link my domain name www.uk-paragliding.com - to www.itsall3.com/paragliding --- And put ads on it stright away from my itsall3 account?

Thanks for any help (sorry to jump on the post, it just seemed so close to the question i was going to post)

    Regards.

I guess if I was simply buildind websites as a means to have a place to stick adsense banners, that would be a good idea.

That's the exact strategy I've been tinkering lately. But can google put a site BACK into sandbox for adding new topics/subdomains? Also, do you reckon this strategy needs a master site-map that includes all the sub-site maps?

Google allows you to have ads on multiple sites (different domains) with the same Adsense account. There's nothing special you have to do.
