Why not a shoutbox??

    sorry if this topic is already posted...but i was just thinking if v could have a shoutbox...it would be really great ;)

    I think it wouldn't be a good idea to implement it here on DP.

    Just think of over 500 users using it at the same time.
    Will increase the server load excessively and eat up bandwidth more than anything else.

    So, IMHO, shoutboxes are not feasible for big boards like DP.

    But, restricting the shoutbox display/access to .... say..... members having a post count of 3000+ may not increase the server load, as not that many people would be using it simultaneously.

    A shoutbox would reduce the amount of posts/threads on the forum and would probably be spammed alot.
