Hi SEOs, I don't know what I made wrong. Maybe I don't understand the whole google search system. Well, I rank on pos. 3 on google.de for a german keyword named "schwarzer tee" which means black tea. There you can see my site www.schwarzertee.com. In Germany Yahoo is only used approx. 3,5% of all SE-users. If I check the search volume on yahoo I get a number of about 600 searches per month. Google is used about 90% of all SE-users. So, an easy calculation would bring a search volume for this keyword of about 16.000 per month. Of course, this is only an approximation. It could be much lesser than that but definitely more than on yahoo. The keyword search and volume estimate on Google Adwords shows me an "average" search volume, which makes sense with the guessed 16000 searches. What do you think how many visitors do I get per day? About 15-20. Do you think that is normal? Thanks for your views.
Sometimes the keywords are listed different. Try checking keywords in mutiple tools to see how much traffic they should get.
I can say from experience just because you have a website that ranks high in google does not always mean someone is searching for it. I realize a search for black tea would probably be popular, but what we think is popular is not always what everybody else thinks is popular. For instance..... i have a political oriented blog directory called RedBlueBlog.com It ranks very high for Red Political Blog #1 of 49 million, Blue Political Blog #3 of 16 million, etc..... yet I get about 10 visitors a day and zip on adsense. You would think with the elections here in the U.S. heating up that a political blog directory would be a big hitter....... I guess it's not as important in the grand scheme of things as I would like to think. Sometimes it isnt that we are doing someting wrong....... it is just that no one likes what we like...... bummer eh...... Anyway.....thats just my opinon based on one of my experiences. It all depends on the search frequency for that region. Perhaps Germans don't drink black tea? I can rank #1 for 'asfsadfasdf' but that doesn't mean I'll get any traffic from it. Always consider traffic over rankings.
Before any SEO does SEO he has to make a keyword analysis. Otherwise he will get bad results or he will be surprised. What I did before I made that site was to check the traffic for the keyword "schwarzer tee". It showed good results both on yahoo and google, as I stated. And that is what I don't understand. Getting low traffic ALTHOUGH it shows high traffic! The example with "red political blog" is not appropriate. Have you ckecked how often people type this keyword? I have done it for you. Google Adwords shows this keyword as a low traffic keyword! And btw, don't make the mistake to show the number of results for a certain keyword as a criteria for this keyword being searched for often or having a lot of competition. The 49 mil. searches for "Red Political Blog" means this: There are 49 mil. websites which have these keywords spread around on a certain page. So, such a site's content could look like this: "... in a political discussion I opened my eyes and saw a red flower. ... This, I have seen on a blog...." And, yes we germans like to drink black tea!
I suggest doing some Keyword analysis and target some high searched keywords and try to get your site ranked on the 1st page and then you can get some really cool amt of traffic from Google.
I can't read German so I can not understand what your title and description says in the Google SERP, but you may want to change them to be more captivating from a marketing perspective such that it results in click-throughs.
To Red_Virus: How shall I do the keyword analysis other than what I have done so far? Ads with Google Adwords to just see the impressions?
You should be wary of trusting the search estimates in Yahoo, I have found them to be inflated on several keywords. I would keep pushing to get top spot and maybe adjust your title so it is a bit more attractive to click on when listed in the serp's. I dont think you are doing anything too wrong though.
