Why no Title or Description in Google?

Just recently, I added unique meta descriptions for every page on my site (it was split by directory before). I just checked Google using the site: command, and found that almost all of my pages just have the URL listed, with no title and no description. What could cause this?

Well let me ask you this: were you spidered by the Googlebot before you added the title and description?

Same thing happend to me because I didn't update before the crawl, so I'm just waiting for the next one.

The site had been nearly totally spidered (some with caches) before adding the info, but most of the pages were listed under the duplicate results ("repeat with omitted results"). Maybe I just need to wait a little longer for the info to come back, and then the caches.

I takes some time before Google recognizes changes.
If nothing but the URL is displayed, Google only knows that this link exists, but not what the content is. If it was already spidered, you have to wait for an update. Be patient.

Indeed, Google spidering is slow. Have you checked in Yahoo or MSN also? Both are updating more frequently.

The weird thing is that all these pages had already been spidered, indexed, and cached. This happened only a few days after I changed their meta descriptions.

I get a horde of Google spiders that thoroughly browse but don't actually update whilst MSN and Yahoo update quite regularly. Just give it time and Google'll recognize your pages :)
