I have been using affiliate programs since March '04. I have never been given credit for sales. I have had sales-- because I made them. what am I doing wrong?

If you made sales yourself on your own account that may be against their TOS. Some allow that, some don't. You need to clarify with your AM about that.

In this case, I am pretty sure it was okay-- but that is not what is really bugging me. It is the impressions. Yesterday, I installed an ad in a blog post. During the time the ad has been up, the blog was requested over 8 times by unique visitors. How do I know? Blog Explosion. So I also know the page the ad was on was also requested. I had over 100 unique visitors after the ad was placed, however I am not sure if the homepage [where the ad was placed] was the requested page.

This morning there were only 8 impressions for the ad recorded by the affiliate manager. This is why I am angry.

What affiliate company are you using? I've known some in the past have had less than adequate tracking systems.

I use the big three-- CJ, Linkshare, DoubleClick.

They all have a minimum amount before they pay out. Look if you've reached that minimum amount, for CJ it's $25, the others you have to check yourself.

Your impressions could be hosed because of ad-blocking like adblock; Also, most affiliate programs have a bit of a delay to reporting your traffic.
