Why no animated avatars at DP?

I for one am happy that there are no animated avatars

They are really, really annoying!

 

sarahk is a mod.
If everybody could do animated gifs this place would be ugly.

sarahk explained how she got one once ages ago i forgot why though, something do with an old version or something where you were alowd animated, then they got rid of it but heres stayed and no one else can put on in now

 

Animated avatars are always lively.But static avatars are preferable than animated avatars mainly because of the space issues, I presume.

 

I hope they won't allow animated avatars. It's a waste of bandwidth and patients.

 

It was allowed back in 2004 and early 2005..

Sarah and Matt have Animated Avatars because they uploaded it when it was allowed to have it... Long way back....

Nope.. People had Animated Avies, but they kept changing their avies..

 

I wouldnt particularly like animated avatars, i think it would be another place to sell links but hey.
