I would assume there were some pretty annoying animated ones in the past, so they got banned, but IDK.
Sarahk has an animated avatar! They also take a lot of KB... I wonder if you can place an animation that has below the maximum KB allowed..
yes, that's the only one with animated avatar! must be because of page loading, but then i have never tried to put up an animated avatar! why not use sarahk's avatar, and test it if it works!

Why not make a mod where you can choose to view animated avatars, then theres no problem about slow loading, you just choose not to view
Or just make a filesize restriction. Then anyone who can cram an animated avatar into the max filesize can have one. DP is so dull and lifeless without animated avatars
Imagine if everyone had crazy flashy avatars.. it would be a headache to read posts!! Static isn't too bad..
I think DP will turn into a jungle of animated avatars were allowed. This is not about DP not being able to handle the bandwidth or the DP server is slow.. I think it just doesn't look nice.
I would say.. Seeing how DP normally has over 1,000 users active at a time, that the animated .gif's put a strain on the server.
because if we have a animated avatar, the bandwith off the forum go down! and the surf take a long time for load the forum
I've seen 2 People with Animated Avatars on DP 1 is SarahK and other one I dont remember I think it is allowed just need to be within the Limit
I don't think so. I uploaded a tiny 257 byte gif and it didn't work Animated avatars don't take up anymore bandwidth than static avatars, it's all about filesize. It's odd that we can post animated gifs in threads, but not use them as avatars.
So a 100KB static gif uses less bandwidth than a 100KB animated gif? Everything is falling into place

some animation can cause epileptic fits and also they are just dam right annoying, ever tried reading a post and you just get attracted to the animated avatar
