Are the other four in the top 5 so full of ads people have a hard time finding the content?

that is a lot of ads, most of my ads are gone since campaigns I was promoting are over and only Adsense makes few cents, everything else is pointless since I would only be giving away free advertising space

An editor probably hasn't had a chance to look at it yet.

When was it submitted? Has it's category had recent edits? Look on bottom of category page for last edit date.

Dmoz is not that important for a site...

Anyway it would be nice to know what criterias the editors use to evaluate a site. I read a lot of guides about submitting to Dmoz, but they never accepted my site neither, even if it has a lot of content.

Don't worry about it and focus your energies on other directories :)

Lightningstruck, please stop posting false information. Resource Zone does not give status checks anymore, and hasn't for years now!

there are guidelines on what a site must be to have a chance at beinmglisted, follow those and submit, there is nothing else that you can do.

You are being advised about if a category has been edited or has an editor listed at the bottom, they are meaningless. Submit and then its when an editor gets to look at the site, that could be a long time. But if you also believe what many of the guys here say, ie that a listing is useless, then it won't matter either way. We don't at present have a system to advise you if the site is accepted or rejected. Just to repeat, follow the guidelines, submit to the category that fits you best ( to regional too if you have a base) and forget it.

Acceptance is apparent, the system that would be nice would include showing if a site is deleted or waiting and it would also show notes.

You give us the money, you give us your time and then perhaps we might be interested in what you think might be nice.

It's great sitting at your computer spelling out what would be nice for a project that you do not lift a finger to help.

Have you built any of the private or public DMOZ tools?

This is prolly the best tip I have read. Although I think the editor date at the bottom does hold some weight as a theory. It has been successful for some some friends of mine, but never me.

Favourites at the races win sometimes they lose sometimes. If anyone can tell me in which of my categories I will edit next Wednesday, then I can tell you which ones will move. If anyone can tell me if I will work through all the unreviewed in my categories and which ones will get done first, then I can tell you where to offer sites. Offering to the best category is the best way to get a site listed.

So should I bet on the favorite or the long shot as a best practice?

Some editors simply delete sites offered to the wrong category, so I would offer to the best fit I could see. But hey, what the hell do I know I am only an editor...and you?

I've edited a lot of stuff in my day. Are you sure you are an editor? I just checked your bookmarks and it says you don't have a book mark page.

Try another tune, you have played that one already. Are you that short of jibes that you repeat that which was not funny or true?

Or perhaps you are simply stupid and have not noticed that gworld has been trying to prise my editor name out of me.
