Why my site header loads so slow

    Hi Guys,

    The site is here. It is loading so slow that in review section someone told me to add the adsense to that empty space.

    Can anyone tweak my site to load fast and remove useless content or help me do so?

    THanks! :)

    It is working fine here too .
    But I think you can reduce the load time for users with slow speed connection.
    Edit your top image: index_09.gif and save it as .JPG - quality 70.
    Doing so, you'll reduce the image size from 56kB to 18kB.
    Don't forget to change the markup according. :)

    Thanks for the advice buddy!
    Actually I believe most of the users having slow internet connection which are visiting my site and audience is very fast, if the site does not load in a second, they simply leave.

    Did you find my site attractive? If you were the visitor, have you stayed for long? Did you like it enough to read the content?

    Need your comments on this, thanks! :)

    The site header doesn't load slow for me.. but is that graphic you've used JPG or GIF? If it's JPG, you should save it in GIF for faster loading (it'll have less KB) and will have clearer quality as well.

    Ops! Made a mistake - majour said it will reduce the size and will load faster. I haven't noticed that, thanks buddy!

    One thing to say after doing this change of .gif to .jpg. The site is actually loading fast, is this my thinking? or is that so in actual?

    It does load faster because the KB (size of the image file) is much slower. Great that you got it fixed:cool:

    As I said:
    I've downloaded the header image, open it in Fireworks and realize that the actual .GIF image was 57Kb size.
    Made an optimization in FW and realize that saving as .JPG quality 70 the size is 18kB.
    That is what my FW said!

    But you can always try to set the GIF to fewer colors in Photoshop. JPG makes your image blurrier.

    If you're still unsure, I can check the KB size in photoshop. typically, graphics with fewer colors are more optimized/clearer in GIF. JPG works best for optimizing images that have tons of colors (such as photographs)

    Sure I've checked the image for GIFs since the first time:
    Check again and here the results:
    Original image: GIF 256 colors => 58kB
    GIF 128 colors => 50kB
    GIF 64 colors => 40kB
    GIF 32 colors => 28kB [here the quality is lower than JPG 70]
    GIF 16 colors => 19kB
    GIF 8 colors => 13kB
    GIFs 16 colors or lower are unusable for the image here refered.

    I agree 100% but as said: "...typically". It isn't a monolithic rule. There some kinds of images that is a good idea check JPF x GIF. And it seems that the GADsense's header image is one of their.

    Thanks for clearing the idea .... I think it is better to go with .gif this time. Am I right?

    I have already changed that, it is .gif on all of my pages.

    Please check it out and let me know about it.

    Thanks!

    57 KB header, much better! If you want it to load slightly even faster, use this one instead:
    [IMG]

    I optimized it in photoshop for you and it's only 41 KB

    Another one that is even smaller (and will load faster than the one above)
    [IMG]
    32 KB only!

    FASTEST one:
    [IMG]
    25 KB (1/2 the size of what you have so far!)

    Note the lack of difference between the two, yet the load faster? ;)

    Is there any nice tool to reduce the image size, I prefer if it is online. I have my canon camera image resizers etc. for e.g ZoomBrowser ...

    I suggest using Photoshop (save for web option) you can select how many "colors" you want in the image (the less colors = the faster it loads)

    And here the JPG quality 70 header, for your final decision:
    [IMG]
    18 kB
