Hi, I don't understand why my competitor, which is 3 yrs old, got more than 20k back links, but I have been keep building backlinks for more than a half years, but I can only get 300-500 backlinks. I have done many link building, article building, directory submission... etc. It should have 1-2 thousands backlinks built each month, but why it is only should few hundreds back links on yahoo and backlinkwatcher.com? Is there any secret why my competitors could build back links that first? so frustrated Please give me some advices. Thanks, Joe
Well, dont worry. First, its not the number of links you have , its the quality of each link. I would rather have 300 really good backlinks that are relevant to my content than 30,000 random blog comments and profile links. Keep building quality links and you should be fine, remember Quality>Quantity.
Thanks for your reply, but I am still so frustrated. Normally, how long it take to go to the top 3 pages? How many links I need to build each months? What is the best ways to build links? Sorry for too many questions... -Joe
Don't worry about asking a lot of questions, thats the only way you can learn. You need to know how competitive your keyword is. If nobody is trying to rank for it, then you can be on the first page immediately. If your keyword is extremely competitive you may never reach the first page for the main keyword. Do some research, and maybe target a new keyword thats the same niche but a little less competitive. Also make sure all your links have the anchor text of your main keyword, thats super important.
Thanks again... I want to know if there is any big difference regarding the seo result. I have been doing building backlinks with $3-5 per links, but it is soooo costly for long term. However, I found that doing articles submission, press submission, social media submission... etc are much lower cost, and the links would be on even PR site. Which way is more effective? I need to find a more cost effective ways. However, It seems to me directory submission is useless, because I can't see those links reflected on backlink checker... Am I correct? Thanks, Joe
Quality of links is the key. Find 30 relevant backlinks with high Google PR and you will be well on your way. Good luck.
Yes, it's not the number that counts, it's the quality. It's really not difficult to get a large number of links (Forum spamming, for example) but this won't help you at all. Try building links by commenting on DoFollow blogs, these are normally much higher quality links and will benefit you. Just keep working at it and eventually you should be able to beat your competitors.
to OP, you should spend more time on article directories and guest post as they are cheap and good links. As per directories they are more or less useless (except a few main ones like yahoo). To all, quantity of backlinks count as well. It would very suspecious if some very prominent websites were linking to you but no one else.
Thanks for reply, but I don't understand I submitted few thousands backlinks, but only couple hundred showing up as backlinks at yahoo backlink check? I don't see the links from article submission that often. Why is that?
Its because google (or yahoo) has to index / crawl the page that your link is on before you can get credit for it. Depending on the PR of the site, it could take a week, or a month (Higher pr = More frequent crawls)
The reason would be because your competitors are more established in that niche. They already rank for the keywords and have done the hard work required. If you do the same you will get the same result. Remember, consistency is the key to success in link building.
Many SEO companies offer this service really cheap, say 1¢ per post. DO NOT fall for that. They will do more harm than any good. My advice would be that you should hire someone who (1) understands your business’s objectives and can (2) write decent English.
One possible reason is that some links are not picked up by the search engines yet. for example, you submit 20 articles to article directories. The search engine indexes only 10 articles, in that case, you get 10 links, not 20.
