Why my site disappears from Google?

    My site is ranking well in Google at position 3, but some time it completly disappears from Google why so? Can anyone help?

    I've read that if you spam a certain keyword excessively in the description, Google will penalize you. They frown upon that kind of thing.

    I'm not saying that's what happened here... just one possible reason.
