Why my images are not indexed by Google? Any Optimization suggestions?

    Hi,
I run my company website, mainly wholesale products. So each product page has 1~3 images displayed.

My website are indexed more than 7,000 web pages by google.com, but when I go to images.google.com & input my domain name or some keywords, I can not find any images in my website indexed by google. Why? Can anyone give me my suggestions?

My website is builded with CREloaded(OScommerce) template, all images are placed to the folder /images/. I check that the folder is not disable in robost.txt. And all images are added Tags. Product descriptons around the images. Everything seems ok for me.

    Jim

It takes a few months for the image search engines to update. Do you have any results in Yahoo/MSN image search?

    What is your url?

goto google Webmaster Tools > Enhanced image search > and click box . it will help you. if you have robots.txt please don't blod image folder . Most of people block image folder . check robots.txt file also.

have you turned on Google Image Adv Search in Google sitemaps?
Other than that all you can do is use good alt tags as suggested , and maybe if you could have image names like 40gb-blue-ipod.jpg instead of image411.jpg .. helps...

However with Googles adv image search , users will actually pick the tags associated with your images and rightly said by mad4 , could take a long time.

    Best of luck though!

It won't take that long anymore to index images. Some websites have their images indexed within a few days.

If you think regular Google results are crazy, Google image results are REALLY crazy. Nobody knows why picture x gets indexed over picture y, especially when it goes to the first few results on page 1. It seems to have nothing to do with PR, traffic, on-page SEO, etc. Trust me - I have many thousands of images on my sites, and while several regularly bring traffic, if the system were logical it should be many hundreds more.

Just give proper image name for exp, if your product is golden chain and you want to optimize image of that than give name like golder-chain-1.jpg and so on or use keyword in image name
than give proper alt tag to particular image. this is work fine for me.

Use ALT tags for your images. It serves as an explanation for the content of the image. Do not make it longer than 7 or 8 words. Remember to use words like 'picture', 'image' or 'logo'.

Sometimes it's hard to give images descriptive filenames if they're contributed and database-tracked. I do ALWAYS use ALT tags though because it's necessary for HTML compliance. :)
