Hi friends, please help me, my blog alexa ranking is now decreasing. Before my alexa rank was about 60000, but after I change the location of my work, my blog alexa ranking is decreasing and now its 83000. I have joined in one SEO company and so I do not get much time to work for my blog now. Is this the reason for decreasing my blog alexa rank or any other issue?
Alexa ranking is a very mysterious thing. I have a website that gets 500 uniques per day and is ranking around 350,000. I have another website that never gets more than 100 uniques a day and is ranking around 250,000. If you get a lot of traffic from Internet-savvy audience, i.e. those who install Alexa plugins and toolbars, your website ranking will be inflated, and vice versa.
That might be due to lack of enough updates on your part that can further cause decreased traffic and thus the Alexa changes.
Who cares of what Alexa thinks of your traffic? Look at your server-side logs or install Google Analytics to get the exact picture instead of misty artificial calculations.
Unfortunately, a lot of people still look at Alexa to get an idea of how well your website is doing since they don t have access to your Google analytics. ie advertiser and potential clients. I do agree that it is not a clear indicator. I wish there was a more reliable tool out there.
I observe that when website has not visitors then alexa get improved and as soon as traffic increases then alexa ranking goes down. Its mysterious ranking algo.....
Probably if u have decreased your updation or u might not get time to look after your blog,it may result in decrease your Alexa ranking.But alexa doesnt matters.Still i wud say u keep concentrating on your blog,make more updates as possible
Alexa is even effected by the bots visiting you, it can easily be manupilated, we can't say its inaccurate, but it does not show what traffic its taking in acount, even if the bot visits from search engines flactuates, it effects the alexa ranking, Tht might be the case!
Dont give too much credit to Alexa, the rankings can be manipulated.. for example my alexa has dropped about 30,000 but my traffic has actually improved slightly from last month.. So that means less people with the toolbar are visiting my site.
I think you should increase web activity of your website, don't stop your off page seo work. If you want good alexa submit your sites to high pr web directories like dmoz and yahoo. Social bookmarking is also a good step of increase traffic.
Your Alexa rank will fluctuate up and down, but don't get upset over it. Alexa is good to give you a general idea of how your website is doing as far as traffic is concerned, but it is not always accurate.
