Why must we digress

I recently learned that most companies send there support calls directly to india. They pay these indians $19 or less a day to "help" us with our problems. I called belkin numerous times within the past week and every person that answered was of indian orientation. The worst part is that the first one that tried to help me had no idea of how to even work his way around Belkins wireless routers. The second one actually helped me, but seemed too caught up in being an asshole, just because i told him that he could of just said command prompt instead of start > run > c as in cow m as in man and d as in dog. My friend called bellsouth recently to gain help with his dsl connection. Guess what, the person who answered was also of indian orientation and spoke very poor english. Why do they insist on making us talk to people who apparently don't even know what the companies products do. I'm not trying to be racist, but come on, if i was a million dollar corporation, i would actually care about who my customers talk to. Or at least let someone answer who actually talks english and knows who they are working for.

What you are saying is not racist. You would not expect English people to do as well talking to French or Chinese customers, as native speakers would. Even if they studied the language for several years, there are very few foreign language speakers who can get the accent perfect.

I often have trouble understanding Indian people in call centres. It reflects badly on the companies that employ people to communicate when they can't do their job effectively.

Best customer service - Google search.

Those people don't know jack...they just read the manual for you...it is actually easier to do a googel search than calling for customer service

Well not all of them are bad at speaking english. The guy who transferred me sounded british, and i asked him if he had a british accent. Turns out he was indian but sounded british. I'm just saying don't let anyone who can barely pronounce english words work on the support lines. I've lived with an indian family and they spoke perfect english and indian, not much of any kind of accent.

India used to be a british colony, right?

I just think it's great that corps are giving people there an opportunity to earn a living and support their families. Have you seen the conditions they live in compared to the corporate background that has plagued India?

Some of them try really hard to succeed and I commend them (call center people).

I'm pretty sure i saw a mcdonalds in india where they have lamb burgers. I might of been mistaken. The point is they need to train their employees better.

Ok so now ive officially talked to 3 technial supporters of belkin's. All were indian: the first one was unhelpful, the second was helpful but an asshole and never really fixed the problem, the 3rd one was helpful and didnt mind me saying excuse me 30 times since their volume was messed up. So now i have tried 3 things to fix my belkin wireless G router.

    1. Update firmware << Already done, the first guy told me to update to a european version for god knows why

    2. Reset the router << Hold down the reset button for 7 seconds, unplug the router while still holding it, wait 7 seconds, then plugin the router and wait 7 seconds, now let go of the reset button << Worked for about 30 minutes, then started losing connection again

    3. Reset the modem and router and clone mac address << Completed and working fine for now, lets see how long this "fix" lasts.
