Hi all I have a bunch of directories - most of which are very well indexed in Google, Yahoo, Alltheweb and Alta Vista... but not in MSN. A good example is this one (out of 8-10 directories) that I find at Seochat.com: It appears to me that MSN is indeed very much behind the others in speed when it comes to indexing new (2-6 months old) pages. Any one have any experiences in this area? /miko67
Short answer : They have their different algorithms. Google places more preference on links while msn places more on one-page optimization.
Hypothetically you could easily have a point, but since I have never shared the database behind each directory with any other site, wouldn't this imply MSN beeing very bad at indexing just about any other directory out there /miko67
well.. look at my directory, links-collector.com Google: 27500 Yahoo: 5923 MSN: 416 and MSNBot makes the most traffic out of all those My opinion is that they screwed everything up when they passed to live.com or whatever that is.
live.com is the next big thing! predicted to be somehow compareable to google. live.com is where most of my traffic comes from
My experience is that msn/live generally indexes a lot less pages, it is not a time thing, so you could wait your 2-6 months and still see less pages indexed than the other search engines.
here are my annoying stats regarding MSN (until this time, 5th Jan 2007): I kinda hate MSN but don't block it yet (for 2 visitors/day and 250 MB traffic in five days it would deserve hat). I still hope one day will start indexing my pages correctly.
