I currently work in the healthcare industry and am in nursing school. I'll graduate next May, (thank God!), but after watching SiCKO, I'm beginning to wonder if I should even continue to work in the US. I LOVE the US, don't get me wrong, but I just hate knowing that we're spending all kinds of money on this "war on terror" when we could really be doing a lot more good here at home, especially where healthcare is concerned. Michael Moore brings up a lot of good points and compares different healthcare systems that seem to be better than what we have here in America, but there are some things that he oversimplifies as well. I spoke to some doctors that I work with that have seen the documentary and that pointed out a few things to me that were oversimplified and some things that just shoudl not have happened. I don't want to say what those things are for fear of spoiling it for anyone that hasn't seen the movie yet. Have you seen it? What are your overall thoughts? Love to hear them. Thanks!
What good is health care if you keep getting bombed by terrorist? Guess though if we stopped putting money into war on terror and just let the terrorist do what ever they want the best place to put the money would be health care so we can give people free wheelchairs because they were in a building that was bombed.
There is a difference between "war on terror" and the "iraq conflict"... We need to fund the war on terror... but we don't need to be spending billions trying to stop the civil war in iraq that's been going on for 1,300-1,400 years... I feel the same way the tread opener does sometimes... The US is great, but the corruption and pride sickens me sometimes...
Sorry, Aaron, but I believe that our healthcare system is almost worse than terrorism. And we don't "keep getting bombed" here in the US. 9/11 was a rare occurrence and thankfully it hasn't happened again. I just think that we need to focus on our country and quit trying to invade the rest of the world through false means.
Agreed. Right, we still need to protect ourselves, of course, but there's not much we're going to do to the social climate over there but make it worse. Thanks!
That's good talking I mean do you guys really believe that your country is spending millions and billions , and many lives just to spread peace and happiness for the world come on ! Theres nothing called terror on earth , the US invented that word so they can easily declare war on any country they want to use so easily and without any complains or problems by the rest of the world. so yes as Chris said if the US would just focus and care about themselves and leave the world alone there won't be any deaths on earth except natural deaths as I believe .
Are you kidding? You mean to tell me that the US is responsible for all non-natural deaths in the world? WOW! I certainly never realized that before now! Michael Moore's stuff is interesting but he is not one that you should believe a lot of what he says. I havent seen Sicko but I have seen some of his other stuff. He has a tendency to twist the truth around quite a bit. Imagine, blaming KMart for a school shooting.
There is a reason we havent got bombed since then. That is because all the money we are putting into the war on terror. There has been quite a few attempts but it was stopped before it happened. I think that is money well spent.
We definitely need more of Michael Moore around the United States. People should know what's really going on and that's what I love about his films.
You need more of Michael Indeed .. By the way , I heared he's being attacked and the government are trying to force him to stop those films , is that true ?
I thought it was a very interesting movie with a lot of good points. I had heard that some of them were misleading or not completely correct, but I agreed with most of it anyway.
