Why messages from Facebook?

I get two kinds of emails from Facebook, where I do have an account but am not aware of having ever asked for any messages or ever having 'followed' anyone - or ever having got any 'followers'.

And I never use the account. Just about.

One kind says like "you have 1 message and 1 friend request"
and the other kind says like: "Roger posted on Facebook".

Why do I get these messages and can I stop them? How?

And if I were to use Facebook could I send messages to one particular person or are all messages broadcast?

you can change your notification settings in your account settings and yes you can send messages to one single person at a time.

beware of opening links as there are many scams going on these days. First be sure then open.
