My question is why members of DP don't use like button.
I have seen only few posts with likes (Maximum 4 Likes Maximum).
It seems like either it is hard to use like button or It cost money.

Few posts I had seen those had few likes are mostly about insulting someone. Like recently I say a post about "Why adsense reject me" And in reply someone posted "Because you are a theif you are idiot you just copied past contents from other websites, you stole their work, you should be shamed of your self" this post had 2 - 3 Likes.

So everyone answer one question why you don't use like Like button.

I don't know about any others, but I don't use it unless a post is a couple of levels better than run-of-the-mill ordinary.

Unlike facebook, most members on DP do not frequently use the like button. At least, I don't. The thing is, we are not real friends here (although there are some who actually meet regularly outside of DP and are friends). I probably average 5 likes a month on DP.

I find that the threads I contribute towards have been created by members that don't have the privilege of liking my reply's. I don't mind, one day I will get there and it will be worth it!

I have to actually "like" the post to "like it" on DP. Usually because it is well-written and making an important point or offering an idea that I hadn't considered. On rare occasion, it is because the post makes me smile. Depends on the section it is in, of course.

I honestly think even if someone likes it half the time it won't be clicked simply because it is out of the way in the corner.

The more likes you have the lower the quality threshold to earn a like because that one like has less impact. In your position that like needs to be well earned not frivolously given. Be patient.

I think you have the misconception that every post deserves a like.

So you have zero likes on 214 posts created by you . Thats the reason why I asked
Why Members don't use like button!

No, I think few posts deserve likes. I haven't seen a single post which had more then 4 - 5 likes. On other forums those have "Thanks" instead of "Like", some posts get 100 thanks or even more...

That's the best answer so far, but unfortunately I can't Like any post

The DP like system acts like a quality control for members. If you add a comment that is well written and provides useful information then you will earn some likes.

Maybe people liked the post that called you a thief because stealing other peoples work and trying to earn money from it is wrong and gives lots of other websmasters a bad reputation.

It's a good thing that people don't share likes too easily. Members have to earn their reputation and for that reason everyone try to be as helpful as possible to others. Great idea in my opinion.

I witness members receiving likes all the time. But a comment needs to deserve the like. As someone who is established I need to feel right about giving them out. If established members handed them out like candy then they would have no meaning at all.
Likes as far as I'm concerned is all about consensus. It's just a way to show the poster that you agree with their opinions or advice. So start making comments that resonate with others and also pay attention to how you write it. If you attempt to write it well your post will have greater influence, than if you merely bang it out without bothering to check the spelling or grammar.

I have 10 Likes myself from my 200 ++ posts.
And guess what , i have not given out 10 likes myself to others.
DP members will only give like to a user who have a good post which is helpful and is true.
Giving out likes to everyone will get you banned if i am sure. It is written in the terms page.

And by the way, i think some members like to like posts which are insulting but still truth.
