Why Linkbaiting is Better than Link Building

There are many reasons why linkbaiting is better than link building. Perhaps the biggest reason is that link building requires constant effort and a lot of time investment in order to be successful. Linkbaiting requires some time and effort, but not as much as that required by link building.

When you use link building techniques, you will find yourself spending an insane amount of time sending out emails requesting links from blogs and web sites. You will also spend a lot of time posting links to message boards and link directories. Even more time will be spent when you start placing free classifieds and reciprocal linking programs. When you use linkbaiting techniques, you will not waste time doing any of those things. In fact, when you use informational linkbaiting tactics you will not spend any additional time getting links. Instead, you simply provide quality content on your blog or web site and watch the links roll in.

This is not to say that linkbaiting is not time consuming. When you first start a blog or web site you will spend a lot of time preparing for linkbaiting.

Your entire web site will need to be creatively designed to prosper with linkbaiting strategies. You will also need to work hard to build search engine optimization on your pages. This is very important to link baiting. However, it is also important when using reciprocal linking programs or requesting links through link building. In the end, search engine optimization is not additional time spent but rather something that you should be doing anyway.

Another advantage of linkbaiting over link building is that the only effort required after you build your web site or blog is that of creating interesting and quality content. When you think about what your readers or site visitors want to see, you will accomplish much more than traffic building.

Additionally, this is all that is required for link baiting. Another down side to link building is the fact that it rarely works. For every hundred emails you send out requesting links, you will be lucky to receive even ten back links. Additionally, there is no guarantee that your back links will be placed on web sites that offer targeted traffic to your web site or blog.

In addition to these draw backs, link building through reciprocal linking programs and classified ads gain you more inconvenience than links. Reciprocal linking programs tend to land you links that are not targeted for your audience. Additionally, the links that you may be required to place on your site will likely be unrelated to your site or blog topic. This actually takes away from your site and credibility, and can lead to a significant loss in repeat traffic.

Classified ad placement for link building will lead to an over filled email inbox. Many people, mostly scammers or spammers, search classified ads in various areas in order to build email lists for marketing.

Unfortunately, many classified ad web sites do not prohibit this gross misuse of contact information in their terms of use documents. While links pages can be helpful to your site or blog visitors, they can also be hindering. They can take site visitors away from your web site or blog before they have viewed the material that you want them to see. Links pages can also seem inappropriate for some web sites, and lose your site repeat visitors.

Linkbaiting requires no links pages. You will not deal with inappropriate emails, and you will not need to worry about whether or not your links are being placed where your targeted audience will find them. Most importantly, you will be providing your site and blog visitors with an important service—quality and interesting content.
