I had placed my link unit below first post in my forums and it hardly ever got clicks. Now I smartly moved it to the top of the forums, in the navbar where people usually goto click the link to main forum page, I got around........... .01 or .02 per click or sometimes .04.... Is it something wrong? Or its that link units suX ? Please help! Or should I remove the link units from there and add a 468X60 banner ???? Please check : - www.teenhut.net Thanks
IMO you better remove it from there and put it between first and second sections (Teen Life and Teen Community) I have know idea how to do that in vb, but I saw some forum doing it.
Its performing great! more than 15 clicks. I just got to know lol, stupid me! Link units take you to more google sponsored search results where if ad gets clicked, its $$ earned, so maybe .01 for a click on link unit and no clicks on the next page it takes you..
My Link unit is not bad. Sometime its 4 cent but sometime I get up to 30 cents per click. I guess you just have to wait until google bot feels pity for your site and increase CPC.
I just googled "Links units perform bad" http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=link+units+perform+bad&btnG=Google+Search&meta= Look I saw here this article http://www.doshdosh.com/ultimate-beginners-guide-to-adsense-link-units-optimization/ I really liked it, so I am sharing it. I read a few more articles over dosh dosh, and they are pretty awesome!
Link units usually pay poorly for me, but sometimes they do just the opposite. But yeah, their low profile on the page is really appealing.
Link units don't work as well as ad units for many sites. The problem is that they are small and hard to see, you can only have one of them, and it requires the user to click twice. Furthermore, the ads that are displayed after clicking are not necessarily the highest paying ads. After much experimentation, I gave up on links units a couple of years ago. Multiple, large rectangular ad units work best - for me. Your mileage may vary.
Yeah they don't really perform well for me. I don't think people like the 2 click thing? I'm not sure. I've always found banners more appealing anyway than a couple of words or singular.
