Why limit "latest post" to blogs hosted using only some blog software/hosts?

    I ask the question in the title because RSS is a standard and hence all RSS blog feeds could be supported right? So I am curious as to why only certain blog software/hosts feeds are supported in the DP "latest blog post" notification area.

    serendipity (s9y.org). Is there a specific rss version feed that I must enter? Right now I have the rss2 feed specified.

    I'm sure it's not really a limitation, more like, just lack of support and integration.
