Why just 1 Google back link but 60+ for Yahoo! and MSN?

    Hi there

I've been spending the last month trying to get back links to my website - http://www.finitesolutions.co.uk

I can't understand why with Google I only have 1 back link, but MSN and Yahoo! are both registering at 60+. Most of the linking sites have a Google page rank, which I assume means that Google recognises them, but they don't seem to be registering.

Can anyone please shed any light on this for me!?

    Thank you.

Google only shows a (seemingly random) cross section of your links so there is nothing to worry about. They recognize more links then what is displayed.

MSN is a better way to check your links for SEO purposes

    Thats really helpful, thanks.

I wonder if you are aware of any free tools on the web that allow me to track who is linking back to me, so I can effectively manage my linking strategy?

    Much appreciated. Thanks.

You can use link:mydomain.com in all the search engines to that end - but try all the big ones as they will all report differently - its something you can compare with your server logs for refferals.

Google only updates backlinks once in a month or so, MSN does it much more frequently.
