gtech, i take it you also support the slaughtering of hundreds of thousands of palestinians. i take it you support the killings of mothers and kids on their own doorsteps, i take it you support making 4 million people refugees and then just leaving them to starve to death.

its ok. karma will get you.

That is what I am asking you. You brought up strategic interest. What exactly is that strategic interest?

Of course it wasn't working. It didn't work when we sold Saddam chemical weapons and he used them on his own people in the late 80s either. Can you fathom what it is like to live under sanctions when you existed in 3rd world poverty previous to those sanctions? And now people wonder why Iraqis suicide bomb the folks who sanctioned them, bombed them, destroyed their infrastructure and now occupy their country?

Oh wait. You don't think our foreign policy has anything to do with this. Just unfortunate coincidences. Maybe GWB should ask God for some help.

Yes, in other words, we should have exercised our political and economic clout to gain the assistance of the Afghanis in tracking down Bin Laden and Al Queda. Food speaks a lot louder to poor people than guns.

Of course, we knew Al Queda was in Afghanistan prior to 9/11. But we didn't want to deal with it then. We're too busy posturing at our military bases in Saudia, protecting Israel to worry about protecting ourselves.

I'll pass on the other rhetoric. Answer this. How is Pakistan a fragile situation?

We supported Saddam against Iran remember? Of course, we supported Iran too (Oliver North). These people love us. In their eyes, we bring them death and oppression, when we should be exporting Bon Jovi and Coca Cola to westernize their radical religious beliefs.

As far as funding for suicide bombers, the majority of bombers were from SA. The 9/11 report has an entire classified chapter on SA funding of AQ. And yet our presence there and GWB referring to then Ambassador Bandar as Bandar Bush hasn't slowed the support that SA provides to AQ. But we attack a totally different country.

To quote you, "don't think for me". It's not that you aren't capable, it's just that you're doing a lousy job at it. Like GSpot trying to tell folks who is a real American and who is a traitor.

Just because SA wants our bases, doesn't mean we have to provide them. They are one of the biggest arms buyers in the world, and have the added asset of being the Islamic holy land. It's not like they need our protection. We choose to go there, which is foreign policy, which has blowback.

No. No. No. I hope that is clear enough for you. No.

We should have control over where our bases are. Or are you suggesting we just deploy anywhere someone asks, without assessing our own impact on the region?

Can you prove that we do not deploy any nuclear weapons to these "bases"? Of course not. Your clearance has expired.

I have given up thinking for you. I have buried my snout in a bottle of scotch for the last hour, and I cannot begin to approach your level of desperation and ignorance.

Wrap your head around this. Killing anyone is unnecessary.

It was never about the Taliban. They've been there for decades. We don't give a shit that the Afghanis can't shit without it ending up in the water supply, or that most of them cannot read and write. We don't give a damn if they die by the hundreds or thousands.

GWB got caught with his pants down, so he sends our troops off to a barren desert country to kick the asses of some local war lords. It makes for great publicity, because there was never any concern that Afghanistan would be able to mount an organized defense or turn it into a protracted, high casualty battle.

We never caught OBL. Shadows and scapegoats. Anything to keep the heat off our friends who let us raise middle east tensions and profit from the average American consumers' dependence on oil.

You're worried about caving to OBL. I'm worried that we already have new masters and have compromised our liberty and safety to support them.

I'm not a military expert. After the Gulf War, they were installed to ensure Iraq didn't get eyes on SA though. And since SA has an AQ problem as well, I'm sure they like the protection now, as well.

Nope, i can't imagine why people voted about 100% for saddam in 2002 or something. Maybe that's the nature of dictatorship, don't ya think? They don't have a choice in the matter. And that's the point, isn't it?

that's a nice story, but most of the fighters are imported thru syria and iran to fight. the oppressed iraqis are on the sideline waiting for the end. they shop in markets and get blown by these insurgents - who you attempt to apply nobility too.

So you would have supported an invasion before 9/11, is this your point here? Clinton was negligent; glad you realize this.

So its all about Israel, is that it? We are actually protecting SA there. I've posted that a few times now, do you grasp it yet?

Do you read the news? Pakistan had to essentially give up part of its country for autonomy because it was overrun by taliban/AQ. Here is some idea as to the current instability.

Born in SA. Trained in Afghanistan and Iran. Or is the country of origin all that matters?

Who ever says SA is totally innocent? We all know they provide money to the wrong people. But, they also have their own problem with terrorists. You remember a few of those incidents, don't you? Don't you care or what?

That's why countries work together on these things, isn't it? Are you being purposefully obtuse?

Then you end with 4 paragraphs of blather that isn't worth my time. but you aren't really making any points that make sense anyways

I admire your dedication in debating these fools guerilla.

You bring up some very good points, no doubt one of the "crazy gang" here in P&R forum will label you as a terrorist supporter (probably GTech or lorien or quite possibly d16man) because you do not agree with their blinkered way of thinking. ;)

Duly noted. We'll avoid Ron Paul's trutherism and conspiracy stuff. Doesn't exactly put him in the best of lights, so I can understand that.

Was waiting for Lorien to post regarding the latest "battered wife syndrome" post, particularly regarding "Of course, we knew Al Queda was in Afghanistan prior to 9/11. But we didn't want to deal with it then."

Do you think most people that like to blame America first support RP? I mean, besides the conspiracy nuts he panders too?

What about people that actually do admit to supporting terrorists, AGS? In fact, yet another one did tonight and you ripped him a new ass...with silence.
