According to AltaVista I have around 200 links pointing to one of my sites. According to my software I have approximately 100 links pointing to my site that I have personally generated, the remainder are probably from forums and links to my site generated by others. So the minimum amount of links should be around 100, Correct? When I check Google for how many sites are linked to me they show 17 sites pointing to my site. I have 10 linkbacks on my other sites that do not show up. The site has been up for 7 months and links have been developed continuously over this period of time. The site is ranked #5 in Google for the targeted search term; and is first page on 30-40 other relevant searches - so Google is recognizing the site. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHY GOOGLE IS NOT FINDING THE LINKBACKS or how to correct this problem? Any assistance will be appreciated.
that sounds about right, google will never show all your back links with the link:site.com command. try the webmaster tools to get a better idea of the links google knows about cheers
Also, are you searching the backlinks in google with and without the www in front of the domain name? I found that the results are different with each.
