i agree with lot of folks that said that site look very unprofessional; I would hire web designer to give site professional look.
I don't think the site is all that bad. Just try and invest a little more in to it and update it a little bit. Make it look a little more professional
Good color choice. Header, side navigation, footer is good. You have to make the body little less busy. take off the brand logos from header, you can put them on body. You used too many big pics on body. remember more pics more load time. search engines read text and links, you have to utilize that idea. You are very close creating a good website. I hope you continue. Look at this site for reference thetannery.com We spent about 200,000 to build it.
Thanks for the advise, would you recommend more images in the body but smaller sized? I want to fill th e body to keep it the same length as the left nav links. I think the white background will be much much better. Thanks
OK, well, um, here's one problem. You mentioned in one post that the background is supposed to reflect the logo. Thing is : the logo is barely memorable and certainly doesn't stand out from the other top navigation elements. This is significant problem #1 as those people buying from you may not remember you sufficiently to return. Significant problem #2 is that there is no differentiation between your top nav buttons and your 'view cart' button. Significant problem #3 - when I add something to my cart, my only option is to 'checkout'. It isn't clear that I can click one of the those top nav links and my cart will be stored. I also can't remove or change the quantities of stuff in my cart. There are bunches of very serious things wrong with this site (unrelated to 'design') but these are just a few that should be addressed first. I say this only to help and hope that you take these comments in that spirit. I know how harsh this kind of stuff can come across on a forum;
LOL I don't kno you where doing, but the site works 100% technically. Its been tested many times and customers have purchased. You have to click update cart to remove stuff if you put 0 quantity, or you can click remove under the item. Man is it THAT hard? I think I will have to make the cart more friendly I guess. Thanks
How will increasing his inventory increase sales? That makes no sense. He wants more sales, he would only need more inventory if sales were higher and to thus keep the supply up with demand.
No its true, on ebay I do well and I just increased my inventory by about 25% and more sales are coming in because I have more selection than I used too. Plus more brands will give me more keywords, people searching for Southpole may come to my site and end up buying Lot29. So its a good idea I believe, only if you can afford it though. Thanks
Why don't you setup a design contest and see what people come up with for you? I think you need to ditch both designs and go with something a bit cleaner, easier to navigate etc.
change the font from times new roman to verdan and i guarentee it will improve conversions at least a bit... but ultimately the trafic you have just isnt the right type/targeted... look for quality...
Its tough to get ebayers to shop at the website, only beside ebay has strict policies about linking to your own site but...each buyer gets an automatic email with icandy clothing branding in it when they pay with Paypal. Each listing has the URL (an image) of the website...(not allowed to link). On the paper receipt a business card with a 10% code is stapled on to the paper receipt and put into the package. Anytime I answer questions, I say: Thanks for your interest! www.iCandyClothing.com So they understand there is a website along with the eBay store. I think Im going to move towards a clean cut whtie website. Keep things simple. Thanks
I changed the font to Trebuchet MS, and I like it. Do you think this will work as well? http://www.icandyclothing.com/index2.html Thanks
False Dichotomy. I think what 'most people' are actually saying is not that they 'hate it' but that it wouldn't take much to improve it. A little constructive criticism on the subject of how to take constructive criticism... You tell us you are not getting good results, and you speculate that there is a reason for it. You ask for advice. You get it. Everyone who gave you advice took the time to look at your site, solely to help you out bud, for nothing more. So, whether you agree with the advice or not, knock off with the overly defensive responses. 7 sales is nothing to brag about, and you yourself came here looking for tips on improving it.
Hey buddy, PLEASE.....Let me respond the way I feel alright. I really do appreciate the advice I am getting. And I am applying them. Do you NOT understand that the oponions I am receiving are not just form this forum, but from co-workers, business partners, friends family.....so let me be the judge on how many people I think did not like the site and who did. Its good to say it sucks, because then we know what to work on, I can't have 50% of the buyers I receive dislike the design and leave the page. So how bout you "Knock Off" tell me what to do MR. Thanks
This is the type of response that is unlikely to generate loads of people wanting to help you out in the future.
Hi, I tend to agree with a lot of whats been said and some good advice for you to follow. I to feel your site needs an upgrade,the text definetly needs changing.Your menu bar left side could be alot better and the icandyclothing on front page could be icandyhome. The template needs more defined outlines and the about us etc looks like an afterthought. I do believe when you have finished these upgrades your visiters will stick. Especially integrate the h1 & h2 tags. cheers Marty
