I use Blogger for all my blogs, and seriously considered using WordPress when I first started blogging but was turned off by their anti-Adsense policies. But I keep hearing they're a much better platform and I'm thinking about using them again for future blogs I might do. So I'd be very interested to hear from WP users about all the reasons why you prefer them to Blogger. Thanks!
It highly advisable to use Word Press on your own hosted server. You have more control over the blog plus Word Press has so many different extras such as themes and plugins. Also, you can use Adsense on your own hosted Word Press blog.
Wordpress is your own way: - many (or custom) themes - many (and great) plugins - great (extendible) features - big community
+1. I just made the move to a hosted solution using Wordpress and its amazing. I have a degree of control over the site that I couldn't even imagine when using Blogger. It's also much easier to optimize for SEO compared to a Blogger site. Wordpress also has the advantage of plugins that easily extend functionality even further. BTW - Adsense is only a problem if you are on Wordpress.com - not if you have your own hosted site. Regards, Rob
Thanks for the feedback - it's good to know you can use Adsense on WordPress if you publish on your own domain. I'm curious about some of the WP SEO features too, I saw in another thread tagging was mentioned? My big complaint about Blogger tags is they don't appear in the page title or header. Not much SEO benefit there...sounds like WP has a definite SEO advantage? Thanks for the help, I know Blogger backwards and forwards but I'm a real newbie at WP.
Wordpress handles all the SEO for you (assuming you don't use a completely shabby template, any standard, SEO, or Adsense template should be fine). I created the blog in my signature in October of 2006, and NEVER did any SEO. By March, it was getting over 500 hits from search engines per day.
Wordpress is the way to go Get a decent theme and blog away. As your site grows try customizing your theme quite a bit so it'll stand out from the rest. Wordpress is much more professional as well. I know Cutline is suppose to be a great SEO theme. What are the other best seo themes?
Wordpress is just awesome. You can get plugins for any SEO you want to do and anything else you can think of. And if you can't find a plugin to do what you need, drop me a PM, I'll write it for you!
I think you confuse with wordpress.com. With wordpress.com you can't display any ads, including google adsense, it againts their policy. If people talk about wordpress, most likely they talk about self hosted wordpress, it cost money for hosting and domain name but it worthed. See more in my blog about wordpress and blogger
Wordpress comes with permalinks and even custom permalinks. Of course, custom url is the best way to go and very SE friendly. My articles for example end up being mysite.com/google Also, it is really easy to insert adsense. There are 2 options for this. a) inserting adsense in the template code b) using a plugin
wordpress have tons of plugins . but actually it depend on people who have the blog . wordpress and blogger have a good quality . so keep seo and your blog will booster in SE
Three important things that set WordPress above Blogger: 1. SEO. Wordpress will help search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask.com, etc.) find you easily. 2. Customization. You can make your blog/site exactly the way you want it. 3. Support. There is a huge community out there (and here) that will help you if you run into any problems with your themes, plugins, etc.
