I checked a few other Wiki topics and there external links varied from a list of articles to list of valid references but none of them had notes eluding to DMOZ. The two sites have very different cultures (primarily speed) but I would guess you have DMOZ editors shifting over there.

There are actually several lists much larger then one offered by DMOZ that WIKI could link too. I think that a WIKI editor would do good to hunt down one of those lists and replace the ODP link.

Many of the other lists are unbiased and would include a wider range of directories then offered by the pretty inclusive DMOZ.

According to it's talk page, it almost got deleted, and while I do not think that is fully needed, I do feel it would likely do good with a few more changes...

I do see a lot of edits in history by Orlady... maybe that could be the reason behind not only it staying, but also the cause of any conflicts of interest (like the only external link being to the ODP).

Oh i always thought Orlady was a nice odp editor ? Is she mean too like Mosta ?

But anyways if you are wiki editor do join the group and help make wiki a better place. Go to any directory page on wiki u will find links to dmoz all over the place even though when dmoz links are been sold these days. You do not see links to yahoo dir or any other directory , is it because they want to list free directories only in external links, well u all know the story with dmoz, probably gworld can post some good links to buy dmoz lisitings :p

Sarcasm will get you everywhere

I do have a WIKI account, but I have no edits. I think I posted in a talk page once a few years back, but *shrug* I could just never get into actually creating anything for the project. (I did give money once though).

Maybe I should get off my bum (and out of this silly DMOZ forum) and get to making the world a better place in a manner that'll actually do some good. Complaining about the ODP won't do all that much till those that pay for it see the evils (or stop doing evil themselves).

Hey Bunny, long time no see! There are an awful lot of dmoz editors who edit wiki. Most of them started way before wiki even became so popular. I for one do not like wiki, so I don't.

Yep I take blame for few links to DMOZ which I made while I was editor and have also lost interested in wiki because of all those editwars and constant stealing of my content so now I mostly hunt down thieves.
