why is WHOIS protection so imp?

    i have around 14 domains with Godaddy but only few with WHOIS protection...

    as godaddy also charge me for the whois protection renewal... i removed that service... can any one please tell me... why is the WHOIS protection so imp ??? as i saw few ppl being so particular about it... ?

    Well Whois privacy is for protecting your details (address, name, email) from spammers.

    whois service protects you personal details/data for any abuse/spam so its a good idea to use whois privacy. u can get that free in godaddy if u use some codes or multiple domain registrations.

    It keeps your private information private. If you do not get whois protection your name and adress can be seen by anyone online. It is worth having.

    ICANN decided that your whois information should be available in the event of problems.

    That means, you should have it in your WHOIS.

    However, if you pay for WHOIS privacy, you are paying the company to keep your details in the event of problems. You don't need it, but it helps.

    It's like a burglar alarm. You don't need it, but it helps.
