Why is this so hard?

I'm not sure if anyone else is having an issue getting a google adsense account, but I had one a long time ago and it seemed like they just gave them away to everyone. But now I can't seem to get one, regardless of what site I use to apply with. I have a lot of online games, celebrity, humor, etc in my network and nothing seems to get approved. I have put through 7 applications so far and all of them have been denied. Anyone else have this issue? And what are my other options?

Why? Do they approve all blogs or something? I could easily start one, but it seems to me like it would be a lot of effort if it's not going to pay off.

If you start a Blogger blog, write 5 or 6 decent, lengthy, original posts and apply for AdSense through Blogger you stand a very good chance of being accepted. Once in you can put your code wherever you like (within the rules).

believe it or not .. .this is a great thing! This will keep the quality publishers and only let new quality publishers in...

My recommendation is to show them a quality site that is in no way a MFA...

Do any of your sites contain duplicate content? If they do that could be the reason why they're not approving you.

IMO, if your in the US, go YPN. I think it's more stable compared to google.

What is an MFA site? Does it have to be blogger to get accepted or is that just a best bet sort of concept?

MFA = Made For AdSense. Basically a site full of cut and paste nonsense with lots of 'high paying' keywords, to try and extract maximum money from each ad click.

Ahhh, I hate the MFA sites, they are horrid. As for YPN, that's even more difficult to get into. I'll have to try out the blogging method. It would be worth it to have a source of income such as adsense. Plus I assume I could enjoy liking the blogging concept and who knows, maybe keep it going. I'm sure there's got to be someone out there that gives a damn what I have to say.

It shouldn't be that difficult, but the reason you haven't been approved probably has nothing to do with them not being hard to get into, which they aren't. The billion or so "webmasters" with Blogspot sites for car insurance or forex trading can tell you that. You are probably banned by them. Did you used to have an account and was banned? Did someone used your name or social security or tax ID and was banned? That's the only explanation. They aren't picky in the least.

What happened to the account you had previously? I guess you have tried logging in to see if it still works? Why did you lose it -- inactivity? Or if you were banned once upon a time you are/will still be banned...

<edit> sorry musta been typing the same time Jack was... </edit>

I was originally banned, but the issue had been resolved. I was on the same IP as someone that had been doing click fraud and the accounts of those on that IP. After that was all cleared up, I got my account back, but I sold the site, along with the adsense... and now I can't seem to get another one.

Ummm - you say you "sold the site along with the adsense" - are you saying you gave someone else control over your adsense? That may be why - you can't actually do that I don't believe. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong... but you may still be associated in some way with the account on your sold site. Also the new owner may have buggered that account with G fubaring your chances of getting another.

Well, the account was setup with the business. I sold the website which had the same name as the business, so we just transferred the business over, so that the adsense, the product, and everything would all go along with it. So, the business name has never changed on adsense. So I really don't think it was because of that.
