Hi all I have just created a new website, and just created an adwords account with £200 on it. and already within 2 minutes of it going live its used £10, so how does this work? do you get charges when people search for a keyword you have on your campaign or do you get charged for when someone clicks on your link? can someone just give use a quick briefing on adwords Whocky
yeh, u set budget amounts and how much maximum your willing to pay per click example- i have a daily budget of £30 on one of my campaigns with a max click cost of 25p the higher you bid the higher you are in the ads
So say like i have a keyword for example: limo hire and have this set to say 30p, then every time someone searches for that term, we get charged for this? Thanks whocky
No, you get charged when someone clicks on your ad, not when it's shown. You really need to read the adwords guides that google provides, or you're just going to throw money away.
Also seeing as how you are so new at this I would advise that you click on edit campaign settings and opt out of Content network as this can eat up your budget in a big hurry and donot use broad match keywords There really is so much to learn and I strongly suggest you do so before you wind up pissing away all of your budget Here's a great guide that can save you a ton of grief down the road
Could it be the Content Network. It displays 10,000+ impressions in no time at all. Personally, I turn it off right away as it's a CTR killer.
Whocky, it was unwise of you to jump straight into Adwords without learning the first thing about it. Adwords can leave you broke in no time. On the other hand, if you know what you're doing, it can make you a millionaire. If I were you, I would spend a good few days in the Adwords Help Center and the Adwords Learning Center. And if you need any other help, just post your questions in this forum. First, however, take the guys' advice and turn off the Content Network in your account.
Whocky, be careful with Google Adwords. You can spend £hundreds without realising its happening. Set up a tracking programme recording each click, the search term used, the pages visited and whether the site visitor actually did anything positive whilst on your site. Click on the pay per click link below to get a grasp of the basics.
