Hi, I was checking out overture and wordtracker, comparing them a bit .. Can anyone tell me why the two tools give out completely different results for the same keywords ? I mean let's say that one enters the word 'porn' .. Why does overture give a count of : 4741522 porn (Last month) and wordtracker give me a count of : porn 203342 (Last 90 days).. Can anyone explain me this ? Gdev
Digital1 ... I just entered the word 'porn' because its very much searched on and thats the only reason, it could have been 'tree' as far as I am concerned ... too bad you couldn't answer my question. Gdev
Hi Gdev, Yes, I'm perfectly aware that you used 'porn' as an example. That did not escape my notice. And I did answer your question when I mentioned that 'Perhaps they attract a different audience' - meaning that perhaps Overture has a larger porn-searching fanbase compared to Wordtracker and receives more searches. Steve
Dont rely on either. Use google adwords and bet high for few days on the keywords you want to find the daily number of searches on... and you will get a clear picture of the number of searches on that term through it's number of impressions
Wordtracker gets their data from the dogpile meta search engine which has about 0.8% of the total world search market share. This data is used to extrapolate an estimated total world search value. Overture uses search data from it's own network to determine an estimated world search value but Overture aggregates some searches ie a search for web page or a search for webpage are counted under the same total. Neither tool is all that accurate as Wordtracker is using an engine with an extremely small market share to estimate total world searches and Overture aggregates some searches. The best idea is to use both tools (digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion) and use your intuition to evaluate the results.
