I think you could experiment more and with little cost. The sheer numbers who could get involved in an online venture will inflate the numbers of online businesses.

Too many people believe the ads and such that say - "make $ while you sleep" - type things and when they realize they have to WORK as this is a JOB they give up

My opinion is that only a small fraction of the people in this niche
is really serious in making it work.

Then again, for some people who are actually making it, also have
some of their sites not making any money.

I believe it is because it takes a long time to become successful online and people just don't have the time to learn about the basics.

Internet business is very competitive. There are loads of information, tools, methods to make money online but the bottom line is finding the best strategy that will work on your business model. It takes time to see profits coming in and you need to make an investment in coaching, software, etc.

There's no such thing as overnight success here in the internet. People who have become millionaires doing online business worked hard and it took them months maybe years to achieve their status.

IMHO, ppl think that it's an easy ride. Make a million in a month?, make a grand a month, make half a grand a month, yep it's all possible but, they think it's a click away. Truth is, it's like any other business, hard work and dedication, no easy clicks.

Almost everything on earth is competitive. There almost no hidden niches, especially with internet marketing. If you happen to find one, then it could be a gold mine for you. Maybe few who make it are those who find less competitive niches!

Ever niche starts in the less competitive niche category. Once people see how profitable that niche is, they'll jump into the bandwagon and saturate the market. Now, as a seasoned internet marketer, how do you protect your position in the market? You have to work twice as much to maintain your momentum. Always be ahead of the pack, so to speak.

Because internet businesses are cheap to start so less planning or thought goes into them. A real business requires a real business plan.

It's a difficult learning curve. Most often I see people say "I got nowhere for two years, then I finally broke thru."

Is two years some kind of threshold for absorbing enuff info and strategies to become a success? Is this true for others around this forum?

depends on how thirsty you are for business and marketing knowledge. If you read all the books, practice the techniques, and spend enough time researching. There is tons of money to be had. But people go in with unrealistic expectations and poor planning

I've been at it for a year and made nothing yet (!) but I am persisting. I have read all the books, practiced the techniques, and spent tons of time researching... maybe I'm just making stupid mistakes that aren't explained in the books. I don't get it how others are making money but not me!

There is a lot of laziness blocking people from success. Personally, I'm working at it at least 8 hours per day, but I don't know why nothing's happening.

In my opinion the biggest reason for the high failure rate is the attitude that “it is easy and anybody can do it”

Well, the basics are easy, and anybody willing to put in time and effort can do it. But a large percentage of people that attempt to make money online are only looking for a quick easy buck and quickly find out there is no such thing.

The key is to know what you are doing, and work hard at it. If you don’t know what you are doing, spend a lot of time learning!

I believe the high failure rate is because it doesn't cost much to have an online business and when people don't make it in the first month or two they give up.

Having a business offline its less likely someone will try and push crappy products all day, as that would put them out of business, wasting the money they paid to start it up.

There is so much crap that people pump onto the internet to try and make a quick buck, and why nobody buys it its easy to be lazy and give up.
