Why is PayPal more popular than Moneybookers?

I have been PP for some time and sure enough it's fast and offers its services over most countries... other than that what I have gathered from forum posts MoneyBookers is better than PP in many respects ... especially the commision cut on CC trxns...
what do u guys think?

Well, I don't think its easy to withdraw money from Moneybookers.
And so most of the people using PayPal in India.
I am also a PayPal user as it transfers funds in just 3 days from PayPal to our Bank.

Its popular cause it already got established when there were no alternatives and buying up EBay surged its popularity even more

 

I’m agreeing with locker23, PayPal started first with no competition and take great part of market. Personally I think that Moneybooker is better option, accept more countries and have less account limitations. Also Alertpay is good alternative to this payment processors.

 

PayPal; is more useful and futuristic! We can easily transfer, receive and manage money in no time... However MoneyBookers requires so much documentation and necassary stuff for each action!

Pretty much. They got out there first before the others. Only option for many sites as well.

 

Every body accepts paypal... so they have a type of control on the interenet

Moneybookers cannot be used in the US...

Also, Paypal set themselves in with ebay, so everybody already uses it. It's extremely convenient, and it got popular before Moneybookers. It's very difficult to dethrown a company like Paypal because they're so synonomyous with online payments and ebay.

 

I do not think Paypal offers any exceptional service which is whole lot better than others. It simply has a huge base and this has a snow-balling effect, forcing the people to choose it...everytime!

This is nothing but a first mover advantage!

imo on it is that moneybookers stop accepting US like myself and forced people to get paypal, but then again both ways you look at it. any real company or another can be used to be a part of a scammers system. so really there is no difference, just a matter of how you look at it. personally since i have paypal and my paypal debit card, it helps when i get payments from clients each month, it goes towards food, bills, server cost stuff like that and my paypal account + card are fast.

 

Well PayPal is more popular because of their presents in Online business for many years and most of webmasters using it as world wide payment option. On top you can also use Credit Card payment to PayPal account which makes it perfect payment solution!

 

Paypal have lot of facilities and Users in PP allowable countries no reason to go for MB because they can take debit card from paypal. But i wish to MB come first.

 

i think its because paypal and ebay are so interlinked and that caused paypal to get more base users then from there it just got more members because it isnt compatible with other online payment processors
