Hi all! I’m working on SEO for a website which has both .com.au and .co.nz versions For some reason when searching in Google.co.nz it almost always displays the .com.au version of the site. The sites are very similar but not totally identical. The .co.nz pages which do show up over .com.au ones are pages for the NZ locations, however these pages also exist on the .com.au website, so they aren’t even unique to the second site. We’ve checked sitemaps and tested/resubmitted them, all seems ok here. The .co.nz site is definitely indexed, but for some reason the .com.au one almost always displays in search results. Anyone had a similar issue or able to offer some advice?
Are you in Australia by chance? Google geotargets results to the location of the person searching. If you are in AU, Google is going to give higher weight to com.au results. If you are in NZ, the searcher will get more co.nz results.
this is because he is using com.au domain i can understand....in case he uses com domain for some propose what would result any idea ?
We are in Australia yes, but our clients have tested from NZ and the .com.au site shows up. We've done tests from here with google.co.nz by selecting "show pages from nz only" and many of the pages of the .co.nz site do show up, but for some reason not the home page (rarely anyway).
