Nigeria is our main source income. I, for one, get at least 30 offers a day to move 30 million dollars of nigeria cash out of that country. Without that, there'd be no commerce going on at all in the US. Who needs oil? millions of dollars grows on trees there.

Lorien I think we might be related. I get lots of email saying I've inherited a million from there, I just need to collect it. I never have gone through with that, I probably should. I wonder if it is free nigerian money, or free american money.

It either has to do with oil, or polar bears. And it's not polar bears.

I think you will find they are interested in a couple of other countries that have key strategic assets other than oil - like tantalin - the stuff they make mobile phones out of, chromium, and other minerals

I got this letter today from Nigeria, ok sure it says Australia but we all know it's from Nigeria. LOL

I am MR.CHEN GUANGYUAN, a personal treasurer to Late Mr. Kerry Packer
the Richest man in Australia and owner of the many companies. His
business empire, built around Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd (PBL),
    includes television, magazines, Internet-related enterprises,
Melbourne's Crown Casino and the Burswood Casino in Perth, beef cattle
properties, petrochemicals, property investment, resources and
    engineering.

    SOURCE OF FUNDS:
I have a profiling amount in an excess of US$65.5M, which I seek your
Partnership in accommodating for me. You will be rewarded with 4% of
the total sum for your partnership. Can you be my partner on this?

    INTRODUCTION OF MY SELF:
As a personal treasurer to Late Mr. Kerry Packer, authority was
handed over to me in transfer of money to a petrochemical merchant
for his last petrochemical deal before his untimely death. Already the
funds have left the shore of Australia to a European private Bank
where the final crediting is expected to be carried out. While I was
on the process, My Boss became
ill and finally died on Monday 26th December 2005

You can catch more of the story on this website:

(Edited links out to protect the innocent)

    YOUR ROLE:
All I need from you is to stand as the beneficiary of the above quoted
Sum and I will re-profile the funds with your name, which will enable
The European bank transfer the sum to you. I have decided to use this
Sum to relocate to another continent where I can invest and never to
be connected to any the late Packers conglomerates. This transaction
has to be concluded within the shortest possible time
    .
As Soon as I confirm your readiness to conclude the transaction with
me, I will provide you with the details.

    Thank you very much.

    Regards,
    MR.CHEN GUANGYUAN

Just made 4% of 65.5 million! Why wouldn't the FBI, umm I mean American government be interested in Nigeria?:)

    It's not. That's a moronic assumption.

Here are the top 16 recipients of U.S. foreign aid for 2005:

    1. Israel 2.58 Billion
    2. Egypt 1.84 Billion
    3. Afganistan 0.98 Billion
    4. Pakistan 0.70 Billion
    5. Colombia 0.57 Billion
    6. Sudan 0.50 Billion
    7. Jordan 0.48 Billion
    8. Uganda 0.25 Billion
    9. Kenya 0.24 Billion
    10. Ethiopia 0.19 Billion
    11. South Africa 0.19 Billion
    12. Peru 0.19 Billion
    13. Indonesia 0.18 Billion
    14. Bolivia 0.18 Billion
    15. Nigeria 0.18 Billion
    16. Zambia 0.18 Billion

See how many African countries are ahead of Nigeria?

    Please, don't post stupid topics.

    We give Israel 2.8 billion?

I disagree with that. In fact, I disagree with giving any county money. We should cut all foreign Aide and spend it on something we need more of.

    Nuclear Missiles.

Thanks for posting that. It's the first thing I thought of when I read the title of this thread. There are many reasons why we give money to these countries, and it rarely has to do with oil. That's not to say the reasons are not nefarious. The fact is we need a lot of these countries on our good side for a variety of reasons.

American nuclear missiles are one form of American foreign aid.

The American military nuclear capability has been a major component of the Pax Americana which has given the world the last 60 years of relative peace.
