    You only have 2 backlinks in the google search engine...

    My forum forums.krazyletter.com have a PR of 6, it has a few backlinks in the google directory. Try getting linked from high PR websites.

    And you need sites with high pr to be in same category as your website. I have some science pictures site and after submiting link to similar content site with pr4 I got pr3 from that link only.

    @ethanwa:

    Backlinks - Type "link:thehotfix.net" in Google
    Indexed Pages - Type "site:thehotfix.net" in Google

    Why does MSN Search list 7000 links and Google only 2? I don't get it.

    Google only lists so many links as relevant where the others will list every page that has a link to your site. Google only counts the link once on a website and more only if it has additional new content that is relevant. It is a strange system I know. Confused me as well at first.

    Yes, I get about 700 hits a day from search engines, 75% of which comes from MSN. Google I only get 10%.

    That's good. However the fact that you don't get more from Google doesn't have anything to do with PR, it most likely is due to your site being new. Give it time and forget about PR :)

    I guess it varies. Each SE has its own criteria. At one stage, I found I could get considerable revenue generating traffic from AltaVista if I kept my content freshly updated.

    From a general standpoint, you can probably do very well if you just keep things conservative.

    If you find that Google is not *happy* with your site, the first question to ask is: "What specific SEO techniques have I applied?". Perhaps the source of the error is very simple to fix once you zero in on it.

    For example, I once implemented a technique almost by accident that resulted in 4 of my websites pulling in about 10,000 to 15,000 uniques a day. Because I was implementing so many SEO strategies at the same time, it took me over 6 months to realize that it has been something relatively simple that was responsible for the huge boosts in my traffic. After doing $30,000 in gross sales the 1st month, with a 50% drop-off in traffic/sales each month thereafter, I really wish I had figured it out sooner. ;)

    Hi Kevin,
    your explenation sounds ok BUT my site has 50 to 70 links with msn and yahoo and only 2 with google and yet a pr of 4. Also, one of my 2 backlinks is not even related to my business. Finally, some of my links are very active PR 4/5/6/7 pages. Can anyone advise

    @Bibofa:

    Whitehat really is the only safe way to go. Sites such as forums that naturally generate a lot of content can do very well in terms of traffic and ad revenue, by just implementing basic SEO stuff.

    Blackhat is a stressful life. You never know when you will finally get penalized and drop out of the SERPs. Plus you're competing with 100s (maybe 1000s) of very highly qualified SEOs, working full time at keeping them in (and you out) of those top positions. ;)

    Whitehat is the way. :)
