So, one of my sites is down, and has been down alllll day today. I've been having lots of problems these days and i'm getting pretty frustrated with dreamhost. Yea, i thought they'd be able to handle my directories, as they seem to handle quite a few others here on the forums with no problems, but to no avail it's just not happening for me apparently. So I put in a trouble ticket and I get a shocking response. -------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, The database is currently functioning normally and is accessible. The error on your site stems from something else. Please check the forums (http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/) for posts related to your situation or submit your own post for assistance. Here is a link reporting a similar error: http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5006&highlight=Fat al+error%3A+Call+member+function+FetchRow%28%29+non-object Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks! Steven -------------------------------------------------------------- ok, I'll admit it, i took the high road and gave him a few choice words. Hey, i know the damn script very very well. Firstly, i found it extremely funny that he pointed me to NewsTopica. Although similar in coding, it's moot, because my problems are phpLD, and that's where it should remain. (besides, I know for a FACT(and yes i stressed this to him) that is is indeed a DB error) so, i decided to check the db again and ummmm: where do *YOU* think the problem is?
Humm, scratching my head as always. Got to mention i like your halloween theme on dump very cool. Also your prices on the submit page are not showing up..thought maybe you might have some cool halloween discounts. Anyway, i'm already listed in your directory. Again, while i was scratching my head-maybe or maybe not you could switch hosting since we are going into a new year soon there should be lots of discounts/coupons coming up from hosting sites.
They probably just don't like that you are actually using resources. Hosts can oversell much easier when folks buy hosting packages and have no traffic or sites on them.
very good point. that directory has 2,635,000 categories in it. the db was 400MB. It ran so smooth too. One of the first phpLD experiments I started out with.
I found that out the hard way with Hostgator, everything was peachy until I started getting traffic to my directories. Then they started taking them off-line saying they were using too much resources.
rob did u try the repair option? i had this issue with another host and i did the repair table, it worked
yea praveen.. hehe i had been running it for a while already. just was waiting for it to finish to see if it helped, and it did. thx for the PM to
