Why is my Clickbank Campaign Failing?

Hello All, I am hoping someone can tell me why my campaign is failing. I tried to post this once before but I dont think anyone responded because I wasnt detailed enough. So here I am laying out all my information!

I bought a run of network ad on adtoll. Thats 400 some clicks for 20 dollars.
The product I picked to promote was Top Secret Fat Loss. http://www.topsecretfatlosssecret.com/
    (non aff link)
It has a gravity of around 340 some. They claim 3 to 5% conversion rate. This is the ad I placed on adtoll.

" I Want You to Lose Weight NOW!
Read the Ebook with fast weightloss secrets!! Now only $37!!"

The ads link was just my affliate link directly to the site.

Now in this ad I mention the price, I tell people what I want them to do and I used keywords that should attract people.

I also attached a 50X50 picture of an egg and a tape measure that I thought would make people think weight loss

Here is the data so far from Adtoll.
    date views clicks CTR
    22-Mar-2008 55,029 16 0.03%
    23-Mar-2008 148,820 47 0.03%
    24-Mar-2008 321,446 185 0.06%
    Today 36,384 10 0.03%

I would post my clickbank data but theres nothing to see.

I hope someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks a bunch. -Jeff

You sure your keywords are targeted enough? When you pay for your clicks, you want to ONLY attract people who are on the tipping point of buying!
For organic traffic you can afford to educate - not here.

People who are promoting CB with PPC or other advertising method where they have to pay don't usually send people directly to the merchant site . They create a landing page where they try to pre-sell the product . I heard landing page convert better . You might consider this option .

    Edit :

The publisher already give you a landing page : http://www.topsecretfatlosssecret.com/affiliates.php#landingpages

    can't agree more!
the promo page kinda sucks - disgusting pics and all.
create a nice testimonial based landing page.
and I think this is only targeted to people in USA - make sure your traffic is from there.

Yes, there are people making money with this niche/product but I would choose something that is not so saturated. If you are just getting started with CB, I would recommend choosing a smaller niche and then test the waters. You may want to try finding products via cbengine.com and cb-analytics.com

Hello first off thanks to all who have responded so far. You guys are awesome. I first want to point out what a run of network ad is from adtoll:
"Run of Network Ads allow you to have your ad published accross a wide range of web sites in our network. These ads are published on sites based on the Ad Rating, industry and target country (if you use Geo-Targeting). Run of Network ads are purchased on a Cost-Per-Click (CPC) basis."

Do you guys think that is the reason why?

Also with the creating of the landing page instead of pointing directly to the publisher it seems like i will just lose people instead of getting them to go to the publishers site.

    Current

    Ad=====>Publishers site

    Proposed

    Ad=====>my site=====>Publishers site

What advantage do I have by becoming a middle man? I want to drive the maximum amount of people to the site right? I know that on adwords you want to make a middle site so your quality score goes up but there is no reason for that on adtoll that i can think of.

    Thanks again everyone!

It would appear that your ads are appearing in a content network of ads. Content networks have lower CTR's than search networks. And, from my experience content networks convert less than a search network (just my experience).

The advantage of you becoming the middle man are many.

Purchases are based on trust, and if your visitor can read some testimonials, your review or experiences with the product than they are more likely to make a purchase.

Secondly, becoming a middle man gives you the ability to capture email addresses. You may think this is dumb, but having a follow up autoresponder series is great because you now have the ability to recommend 3 products to that visitor instead of losing them forever.

Lastly, don't ever believe what a publisher says about there conversion rates, they're saying that because they want you to promote their product.

when you say CTR your talking about the ctr of people clicking on your ads while they are on the content network correct?

Agree and wanderingrobots check my second signature if you want to see an example of a landing page . Keep in mind this one is not for CB . I created for my Travel business . The purpose is to get people emails so I can convince them why they should have their own travel business .

    Adtoll?..LoL x 2
I spent $60 and no conversions. Adword is the best for promoting. You just have to deal with the competitor :)

    hello all!
Okay this is where I am at. I am going to go back and create a landing page for a new product I am going to be trying out. A smaller niche, (fishing) and try using YSM instead of adtoll. We will see how that works out! If that fails I will be posting another thread for everyone to critique. Thanks for all the help everyone! you guys and gals rock
