Why is Min. Bid 35 cents when no other ads showing for that keyword?

    High DP'ers,

I started a new search campaign focusing on a keyword that has no other adwords advertisors active. When I entered the min bid at 5 cents it said I had to be at least 35 cents to become active? What gives?? Why can't I pay the min. bid price of say 1 cent if nobody else is competing??

If nobody else is advertising then there must be a problem with those keywords. Unless its a brand new product or service that just came out.

If google wants you to bid more, you need to improve landing page QS.

If you are in an industry that google frowns upon, then you might just get weeded out in the long run anyway.

Yea, Its a brand new product. Is that the reason? Should I slowly lower my Max CPC if my Conversion Rates look good?

Definitely sounds like a quality and relevance score issue. Landing page or related your adwords adcopy. It's hard to tell exactly what's going on without more details.

    Be well.

    What's your ctr so far?

Also, just because there is no competition doesn't mean you pay the minimum, google is greedy like that.
