Writing is a skill that can only be acquired in a long process. No one is born to be a writer so the more you read, the more you write and the more you write, the more you learn and earn good skills in writing. This is what it makes hard to be a good writer. It takes your all your effort, time and perseverance.

    ..lot o'legs and little bit o'body :)
If seriously, then stubborness, good command of language+creativity - that's what a good writer needs.

    To the OP,
I sense real anxiety and desperation in your plea for advice on how to be a "good writer". You are certainly at a serious disadvantage as, I presume, English is not your first language. I began writing as a teenager - and have been writing ever since - firstly because I enjoyed writing, but mostly because I had - and still have - a deep love for the English language; its rhythm, it's nuances - words that almost flow like music. If you do not have an "ear" for the English language, it is going to be a huge uphill battle to learn it and eventually master it.

Probably the best advice I can give you is to read as much (English) as you can to help with the grammer, and to write, write, write until it becomes almost second nature to you. Keep your sentences simple, short and direct. Do not use too many adjectives (the sin of most new writers). Do not be overly elaborate or flowery when describing things (this is a dead giveaway when reading content written by "non English native" writers). Be as factual as possible. Imagine that you are a reporter working for a newspaper. Your job is to report the facts - and only the facts. No long, drawn-out, fancy sentences. Keep it simple. Research your topic well. Gather your thoughts. Put them down on paper as simply and accurately as you can. Then check your grammer and punctuation. If you are using MS Word, you have Spellcheck and sentence construction advice and synonyms at your fingertips - use them.

Many writers will have you believe that they can write a 500-word article in 15 minutes. That may be so. But the GOOD writers, the ones who truly care about the work they deliver, will tell you that they spend a great deal of time editing their work - tinkering here, chiselling there, crafting a professional piece of work.

I wish you the very best for the future. Don't give up. If you have a real passion for this type of work, you will find a way to succeed. Even the truly great writers such as Scott Fitgerald and Ernest Hemingway, papered their walls with rejection slips before they were published.

One last word in parting: Writers today have a far easier time of it than those who came before us. The Internet has made it possible for tens of thousands of writers to make a fairly decent living writing online. So you don't have to be a "good writer", you just need to focus on being a workmanike writer who gets the job done.

    Best of luck to you.

    Ace

Who are you writing for? Why do you tweet? What is the purpose of your articles and Facebook business page? You must plan before you act if you want to have a positive return on your investment.

There are many aspects of being a good writer. First, you need to be able to provide writing with excellent spelling and grammar. Your writing needs to have a nice flow and be easy for people to understand. You should write in your Native language unless you have had extensive studies and are fluent in another language. To be a good writer, you need to be able to take a topic and make it interesting for anyone to read your article on that subject. It is necessary to be creative and to write content that is not similar to other content already out there. In fact, it cannot be similar at all.
