Hey all, I am really trying to pick up PHP but I just find it is not clicking in my head as such, if I could get off the ground I think I would be away but I just can't get my head around some of the basics. I have tried W3 Schools and PHP.net but I feel slightly overwhelmed. Are there any really good resources for complete noobs learning PHP to get me off the ground? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
Hello, I plan on starting a course on learning the basics of PHP and MySQL very soon. I'm still working on the actual outline and content of the course, but the first few entries will be free for the people to review. If you're interested send me a PM and I'll get back to you when I start the service. Other than that the best source for learning PHP is books and experimentation. Make use of php.net for function definitions (and sample usages) when necessary. Personally I read books like Programming PHP or even Sams books (Teach yourself PHP in 24 hours) and then expand on the ideas I learned through creating my own scripts.
