Why is it against TOS to show CTR and eCPM... you can calculate yourself!

    I think this is weird.. You're allowed to show Pageviews, Number of clicks and earnings, but you're not allowed to show CTR and eCPM...

    Little calculation:

    CTR is number of clicks per pageview, that's clicks/pageviews which are allowed to show

    eCPM is earnings per thousand impressions, that's (earnings/pageviews)*1000 which are allowed to show...

    Just try out for yourself with your own stats. Got my point?

    weird..:confused:

    well i thought so but let's pretend you can't.. you still can calculate it then, altough that requires a bit mathematics.. here goes:

    Pageviews = given

    Earnings = given

    eCPM = ( Earnings / Pageviews ) * 1000 = ( 3.50 / 2000 ) * 1000

    Clicks = ( Pageviews / 100 ) * CTR

    CTR = ( Clicks / Pageviews ) * 100

    next:

    Clicks = ( Pageviews / 100 ) * CTR => CTR = ( Clicks / Pageviews ) *100 so you get:

    Clicks = (Pageviews / 100 ) * ( ( Clicks / Pageviews ) * 100 )

    Now Clicks is done, Pageviews is given so one unknown and one formula. Mathematics say that it is possible to solve this last unknown (if number of unknowns is equal to number of formulas, you can solve it)

    For CTR you get this:

    CTR = ( Pageviews / 100 ) * Clicks => Clicks = ( Pageviews / 100 ) * CTR so you get:

    CTR = ( Pageviews / 100) * ( ( Pageviews / 100 ) * CTR )

    and again Pageviews is given so one unknown.

    You can solve them both (although i still don't know a good formula for each.. i'm busy with that now :) )

    maybe it's a bit hard to understand but this is all true!

    That is not all true.

    If you only have Page Views and Impressions, yes you can work out CPM (as you rightly showed) but it is mathematically impossible to calculate Clicks or CTR

    But.. you're not allowed to give pageviews/impressions either - not for adsense atleast - I guess you can roughly calculate it if it give out your traffic details and people go check on how many ads you have on each page, but according to the TOS you're only allowed to give out the revenue made.

    So my understanding is that all you can report is the total amount of money paid to you by Google.

    That sums it up nicely! You can not reveal anything except Gross earning. Other than that, you are against the TOS of Google.

    The reason Google prevents publishers from revealing clicks, CPM is they dont want everybody has the same cotent in everysite.

    For instance I have a site about Icons, and my CPM is 10.00 my CTR is 15%. Some folks will think it is a decent figures and start to build up a site with contents is Icons.

    That is the only reason that I think Google prevents us from revealing those. But may be there are some more ...

    okay that clears up alot :) but go check the buy, sell, trade and then sites sub-forum.. almost everyone that has adsense revenue there is against TOS:eek:

    i think it's that too. but maybe it's also that google just want to annoy publishers (their TOS is so strict, i can understand that, but when you do something wrong you won't get a warning and you won't get banned.. until you reach $100,-)..

    i heard from several people they're so scared of getting a mail of google that ban them, or some guys that earned a lot ($xx,xxx) just got banned by google without a good reason..
