Google leads group assault on Facebook

Did they try to buy it and fail, now they're trying to take them down other ways?

Of course. Plus, if the idea worked for Facebook, why not copy it?

Google has been supporting various API's for a long time. This really isn't a big surprise.

Google sells advertising. So does Facebook.

A lot of what Google does makes more sense if you consider it as primarily an advertising company that's looking for eyeballs. In that sense, Google is the competitor of every single website out there. This is why they have moved onto maps, books, local search, price comparison, email, blogging, and all of their other non-search services.

the opensocial api that google is making to compete with facebook is going to fail. i heard myspace is joining it aswell, but facebook is whats hot. i wouldnt be suprised if this fails just like google video did when they tied to compete with youtube and then in the end just bought youtube. well as zuckerberg said facebook isnt forsale and is preparing to go public. if i was working for google i would just tell them to stop wasting money on dumb ideas.

    is that a joke?

what happened to google check out when they tried to compete with paypal?
    they got crushed.

what happened to google when they tried to take on youtube with google video?
they got crushed and bought youtube for billions.

do you know anything about facebook?

the only reason google is trying to compete is because they have zillllllllions in cash they just need to burn.

They weren't trying to compete against paypal, they were simply providing an alternative. People still use google checkout buddy.

Hmm? You don't have to use paypal to receive payments - google checkout is a n alternative to that. If they're not attracting ebay users, then they're definatly attracting other users.
