Google is sending more than 90% of visitors to one of my sites, much more than MSN, Yahoo, or any of the other search engines. I have two questions about this: 1. Why is Google sending me this large percentage of traffic? 2. How do I optimize the site in the way that evens out the traffic for Yahoo, MSN, and the other search engines? I really don't want to rely on one search engine to send me all my traffic, for obvious reasons, so I would like to fix this as soon as possible.
How old is the site? How often do you update it. Are the keywords niche or competitive? How do you get backlinks from article directories or web directories? Things as keyword density and other SEO factors can have an effect. Does your web site have an RSS feed that you can subscribe to on your own my Yahoo page? If it is properly optimized for Google and does well there it should do well in Yahoo! Remember all things equal the majority of natural search will be from Google. I depend on natural searches for all my traffic of course this is through article marketing and if that ever dries up I may have to resort to PPC.
• Be sure to submit a sitemap.xml to "Yahoo Site Explorer", as well as to Google Webmaster Tools. • You will probably never reach a point where you "even out" the search results on the Big Three. For now, Google dominates the field, but your 90% Google number is indeed a bit out of proportion (see the first suggestion).
Google is a predominant Search Engines, most people use it, it's natural for a site to receive more visitors through Google, it reflect the market share that Google takes. To many website Google gives most of all incoming traffic, with my site it's around 85%. By the way, nice name Tesla.
My dear Friend There is nothing to worry about, its common. If you are not aware of % then let me inform you that google own 75% of searchers all over the world and remaining 20% is own by yahoo and msn. Finally rest of 5% is own by other 100s of search engines. So if you are getting huge traffic from google then its common. Secondly if you are interested in getting traffic from yahoo and msn then ask question like this "how to get traffic from yahoo and msn". So you will get reply for optimizing yahoo and msn. Cool mate and Enjoy your day
That's about my ratio as well. If you could start getting more people to use Yahoo in general that would help. Yahoo may appreciate it also. *I'm kidding ofcourse. I think this is a pretty common ratio, as Google is just that popular.
dear friends, this is natural thing.. as people love google than any other search engine so they used to search by google only. 70% of traffic is came from google and rest 30% is covered by other search engine. Just make sure that your site is being index by other search engine or not? if it is not indexed by those search engines that try to index there.
I think this is normal.....more than 80% of the traffic for my site are from google eventhough my yahoo and msn ranking are much higher.
The differences between Google and Yahoo that I've noticed: Yahoo seems to more emphasis on longtail keyword searches, from what I'm seeing. Yahoo may take domain age into consideration more than Google Yahoo seems to like meta keywords still. Yahoo does appear to look more at onpage factors, such as H1, H2 tags. Unfortunately, sometimes when you optimize for one you can mess it up for the other. Google has most of the traffic, so don't give up Google over Yahoo or MSN.
